Migrant workers are people who leaves their hometowns to live and work in other cities or countries. Everydays, there are people move from one place to another, it may because of wanting to change a working condition, to break away from unemployment, or to find new opportunities for self-development. Someone may against that they bring a lot of negative impact on the places they moved to live and work, but in my opinion, whenever in economic, cultural and social aspect, they bring much more advantages to those places. First, the diaspora makes positive impacts on the economy of a country. In the view of economy, when there are more people are looking for a job, which means the demand of jobs increased, a lower wages can be resulted, so that the country can be benefited by getting more and cheaper labour force, which would help increase the productivity of the country, the competitiveness of it increased. Also, the migrant workers would bring new capitals to the cities or countries, that they must have to bring money for the livings, or if they are come to that …show more content…
As there are people from other countries comes, there would have people from different places in a workplace, or neighborhood, so that people can communicate different cultures at a same place. And by communicating cultures, cultural integration can be promoted, which would benefits those places that migrant workers moved in. By promoting cultural integration, the domestic people 's acceptance for the diaspora increase, they can agree to more cultures, so that more migrant people would like to come and develop. For instance, if the local people would not resist to try food from different countries, outsiders may be more willing migrating to that place to start new business providing featured dishes from their hometown, so that people can have more choices when choosing a meal, different food cultures can be shared and
Claudia Kolker’s book “The Immigrant Advantage” (Oct 2011) is a book that touched on the advantages of immigrants coming to the U.S. bringing along their customs, religions, teachings, and traditions. Kolker wants to inform readers that there are good things that come from immigrants like food, fashion, vocabulary, and customs. Kolker points out in her book that there is many ways that immigrants benefit to succeed from others in everyday life. For Example, “The Vietnamese Money Club” (Kolker 19) it is said that to start a money club you need people that you trust from 3-6 people at the least. They all need to pitch in a certain amount of money aside and who turn it is first they get all the money.
The American dream, hope, and perseverance are the many qualities of Pam Munoz Ryan’s (2000) book Esperanza Rising. The book brings to life the many struggles immigrant families face when trying to build a better life elsewhere. Ryan (2000) shows how hard it is for those to leave all that they know to start over again. She paints a picture of what living was like for migrant workers at that time. She also shows how hard work takes its toll on people.
Migrant Workers in the United States For centuries the United States remains to be an ideal country for job opportunities. Therefore, migrants make up a tremendous number of America’s population. Immigrants have significantly impacted many aspects of life in the United States. Migrant workers are spread across the country and continue filling underpaid positions that American citizen would never take. Immigrants are the easiest targets for exploitation; employers continue to take advantage of these illegal workers by hiring them to do unfair laborious and physically demanding jobs.
They come to the U.S in order to flee from destruction and upheaval in their countries or just to work to support family back home. As they are willing to work for less than under minimum wage in the U.S as it is still higher than wage they received at home. As Hanson wrote in his report “The Economic Logic of Illegal Immigration” in 2007, the influx of illegal workers resulted in increasing the supply of labor with low-wage, raising the productivity of resources that need a large number of laborers to be exploited more efficiently. For example, the employers who rent illegal aliens to work for them are able to cut costs, produce products at a cheaper rate so that they can provide their services or products in greater number to a wider market at more affordable prices. One more example is about perishable agriculture where most of the landlords in Arizona, Florida or California need to hire field hands to plan, harvest and process.
economy. The jobs aspect of the economy is a big positive because immigrants take all jobs and especially the jobs that Americans are not willing to do. Also when an immigrant is challenged by an American for the same job either the American or the immigrant stands to make about twenty - five dollars more a week than before they were challenged for the job opening (migration policy,2014). Next businesses in the U.S. can strive more due to the lower wages so then the production cost will be less therefore they will be able to produce more for the same price they were paying for a half of what is now being produced. Next not only will businesses strive but the economy will strive due to businesses doing well because the income that those businesses receive come back to the government and that income goes towards our budget or yearly budget that allows states to purchase items for school such as textbooks so kids can have a better education.

As more and more illegal immigrants continue to flourish in the United States, one common issue involving the economy is the job market. On one hand there are those who feel that the immigrants are taking their jobs, which makes looking for a job more difficult and furthermore causing issues in the economy. On the other, there are those who feel immigration actually benefits the economy in a variety of ways. Upon arriving to the U.S., immigrants can hardly grasp the social functions therefore leading to their first priority to find a job and a home. Immigrants that are hired are more likely to work for a lower wage however they’re very low-skilled workers.
One of the reasons there is so much immigrant population in this country is because of the economy. In the past, immigration was helpful to the economy when people encouraged it so that the it could become prosperous and bring in diversity and help needed. Today, many people are afraid of losing their jobs. Immigration is currently flooding the labor market, primarily in the low-skill, low-wage sectors, and driving down wages and working conditions for many Americans because our immigration policies do not take economic conditions into account. Illegal immigration probably has its greatest impact on the United States’
Immigrants brought their culture, including their gastronomy, and recipes, from their homeland as a way to preserve and express their heritage and pass it on to their children. Moreover,
With the demand rising of the output, the demand for labor that creates this output will increases. The rise in immigration leads to the rise in the demand and labor supply. Therefore, the impact of immigration on salaries will range in various labor markets. In these labor markets, where the labor supply increases by above the labor demand, salaries drop. There are other labor markets, though, where labor demand increases by more size when compared to supply and salaries.
Immigrants will work for a lower price than most Americans which is causing business’ to lay off workers because they found someone to work cheaper. Working cheaper does not mean better quality or a harder working person. Working at a lower wage means lower taxes that the immigrants have to pay which is a burden to the government. The reason for lower taxes is because they're not a citizen so they have to find small jobs that are
Immigrant workers in the U.S. have a significant impact on the U.S. economy. The degree and relevance of that impact are often debatable. Some people believe that immigrant workers take jobs away from the natural born U.S. citizen. Others debate that the immigrant worker is a way for the labor market to keep pace with an ever changing job market. Another faction believes that the immigrant worker is necessary to occupy jobs that no longer are desirable by the more educated U.S. work force.
But, living in a multicultural city is by itself a very beneficial exercise not only on a personal level but also in terms of cultural exchange, economic exchange and generating new ideas. One experiences what is called cultural variety when living in a diverse area. He is somehow introduced to new kinds of foods, architectures, arts, music, festivals, religions, mythologies, writings and more of general day-to-day life. These new things would easily open one’s heart and mind to new places, new ideas and new people. According to (Wolfstone, 2010) nowadays all people around the world happily go out and eat Chinese food, use Japanese technology, drive German
The disadvantages are that it is hard to preserve their own cultural identity. Another disadvantage is that it can result in disagreements, conflicts and fights between the different people who are living together. The advantage of living in a diverse society is that it can help increase one’s knowledge, awareness and understanding about others culture, ethnicity, beliefs, practices, customs, tradition, et cetera. This knowledge, awareness and understanding about others may be helpful or useful to us in the future.
With the times, individuals from rural areas will learn new viewpoints, languages, performances, concepts and thoughts due to socializing with different backgrounds.
