Have you ever wondered if playing one sport is better than playing multiple sports? Studies have shown that there are many benefits to playing more than one sport. Playing multiple sports can help you in the future and can prevent you from having serious injuries. I believe, that it is much better for an athlete to play more than just one sport.
Playing multiple sports has healthy and safety benefits. Movement and practice in different activities will allow you to strengthen different muscles groups and reduce the full time strain and potential overuse of muscles associated with one sport. The factors can decrease the risk of injuries in young athletes. Evidence of this point is illustrated by studies that have shown that many, “Athletes who compete in more than one sport have a lower rate of injury”(King paragraph 6).

To elaborate, people will argue that one sport is better than playing multiple because you won’t have time for your social life by playing multiple sports. It also presents greater time commitment for parents to get kids to practice all year round. It becomes a significant drain on family time. For this reason many people believe that doing one sport is more beneficial to your health and provides kids with the opportunity to a more balanced overall life. Despite these sentiments, I believe that even though you have more time on your hands when you limit yourself to playing only one sport, this doesn’t overcome the positive aspects of playing multiple sports. Furthermore, nobody should give up playing sports so they can have more free time with any intention of being lazy.
