INTRODUCTION
Even with populace development and urbanization, expanding the supply of animal products is a central point contributing to food security and quality. Poultry raising is one of the activities that can directly address this important issue (Madia, 2005).
Most commonly used energy-rich feedstuffs in conventional poultry diets are Maize, wheat, sorghum, barley and oats (Reddy & Quadratullah, 1996; Ravindran, 2010a), forage feeds (grass hay and legume hay), and oilseed meals (soybean meal and cottonseed meal) (Myer and Maddock, 2001). Feed represents the major cost of poultry production, about 95 percent of total feed cost is used to meet energy and protein requirements. The dominating feed grain utilized as a part of poultry feeds

A large portion of these “alternative” feedstuffs that can be utilized are by-products or co-products and edible waste products from the food processing, food preparation and food service industries, and the bio-fuels industry. Example of industries include grain processing, brewing and distillation, baking, fruit and vegetable processing, meat, milk and egg processing, seafood processing, prepared food manufacturing. Different alternatives include feedstuffs that are not usually fed, for example, wheat, may be a good choice during times of low prices, or during deficiencies of more conventional feedstuffs. most classes of domesticated animals can effectively utilize alternative feedstuffs in their diets. Cases of the more common alternative feedstuffs include distillers grains, soy hulls, corn gluten feed, brewers grains, citrus pulp, rice mill feed, molasses, and whole cottonseed. Examples could also include waste candy, cull peanuts, cull vegetables, bakery waste, cotton gin trash, and table scraps (restaurant food waste). (Myer and Maddock, 2001). Therefore, should be drawn towards the use of some local by-products (especially, after the variation in local market prices of corn due to the last world problems) available in certain areas of Egypt (Ragab, et al. …show more content…
Moreover, the use of oil or fat in diets for broilers may change both the composition and the quality of the carcass (Baiao and lara ,2005). A significant consideration has been paid to use untraditional fat as a cheap source of energy in poultry diets to achieve a suitable efficiency of utilization and economic efficiency of

What does Pollan mean by the "industrial food chain?" In Omnivore’s Demma, Pollan states corn is the very basic essential component in the industrial food chain. Corn can be eaten by human being, feed livestock and also can be turned into many other food products.
Americans have been overweight ever since the early 2000’s because of the food they consume. There are four different food chains in America that link to the food we eat. In the book “The Omnivore's Dilemma” by Michael Pollan. Which fits in the nonfiction genre. Pollan announces that the food we put in our mouth is from different food chains.
Essay 1 Every year about a third of what the world produces is wasted. This equates to 2.9 trillion pounds of food. The wastage comes from our homes, restaurants, and even the farmers who produce it. Food wastage is an epidemic with dangerous outcomes; from deforestation to the draining of our fresh-water bodies, the population is in trouble.
The author of American Wasteland, Jonathan Bloom, uses many techniques to steer readers in his direction. Bloom talks about a big issue concerning American in 2010 and is still an issue today in 2016, six years after he wrote this book. As a result of broad research, the main issue today is expiration dates and how state regulations and laws promote food waste (Linnekin). As other books, articles, and documentaries explain this issue they use evidence, positive and negative connotations, and bias to connect with a general audience or supporters.
Between 10,000 and 4,000 BCE beer became a widespread beverage throughout many early developing civilizations and empires (10). Prior to the Neolithic Revolution humans lived a hunter-gatherer lifestyle and migrated to regions that were rich in game and edible plants. Two regions in particular, located in fertile river valleys, contained a massive crop of wild cereal grains that lead to mass food production, population explosions, social developments and early currency. In Mesopotamia and Egypt cereal grains were originally used to make thickened soup, thin breads and gruel that was high in protein and calories.
Eating a nutritious diet and eating locally, sustainable foods provides not only benefits to your body, but to the farms, animals, and the environment, for example, “When cattle, chickens. and other animals eat grass - and not just corn or other grains - they are actually healthier for us to eat. So is the milk or eggs that come from grass-fed animals... Green grass has large quantities of beta-carotene, vitamin E, and folic acid. These natural chemicals are important for a healthy diet.”
There is an important question many people today wonder; I found that there are several people who see how showing livestock affects kids in school and in life. I chose this topic because so many people think that showing livestock is just a waste of time and money, but they have no idea what it entails. Other people don’t realize that showing livestock isn’t about the money or just having a pet. I am writing this paper because everybody should know that showing isn’t about having a pet, it’s about gaining responsibilities and learning new things that can help you later in life. Showing livestock helps children go farther in life because it teaches them more responsibility, they work harder, and they never give up on their dreams.
Have you heard of the next big food controversy? This one was brought to my attention and the attention of millions in the show Last Week Tonight. It is a sad story to talk about but an important one. Of course I am talking about how bad chicken farmers are treated. Oh, have you not heard of this news story?
Showing livestock has many benefits people don’t realize. Have you ever thought about them? What an individual can gain, learn, and/or experience? Many people often feel showing livestock falls under two categories. One, it is just a waste of thousands of dollars, or two, we get meat from livestock.
Animal captivity costs outweigh the benefits, and the violation of the rights of the individual animals is unjustifiable. Animals everywhere are being taken into captivity on a daily basis for the sole purpose of entertainment and education. Societies opinions of how zoos treat animals and their opinions of whether or not animals should be held in captivity is a common topic in today’s media but yet; hundreds of animals are still dying every year as zoos are still one of the top tourist attractions in the United States. Zoo captivity physically and mentally harms the well-being of animals in more ways than people derive. Solely, there are thousands of pieces of textual evidence and statistics that explain the prime reasons zoos should be abolished entirely.
In the long run feeding livestock what naturally grows is financially beneficial to the farmer and the consumer because it cuts out the cost of unnecessary medicines, doctors’ visits, purchases of number 2 corn, oil, etc. Furthermore, grass fed meats are worth more and selling this within the local community, which can boost the local economy and can aid in a substantial farming business. Sociology and psychology are involved due to the fact that malnutrition (animals and people), the treatment of animals, the psychological effects of grass fed produce, and many of these issues are societal. Furthermore, the psychological effects of consuming grass fed produce increases the intake of healthy fats, which is beneficial to our
However, these standards can 't possibly reflect the actual nutritional requirements of every domestic animal species. Accordingly, Dr. Junger believes that animals should eat a variety of foods that provide a broad spectrum of natural nutrients. If animals are fed a variety of quality foods to begin with, supplementation with select high quality products can then be used to support good health at different life stages, to prevent age-related deficiencies, or to promote healing after
The world is experiencing a dilemma today. Many people suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and other problems caused by the lack of sufficient food. However, many other people buy or order excessive foods and waste a lot. In my community, food waste is much more serious than food shortage, and it is easy to see that people throw foods in the dustbin and the foods indeed are still eatable. Food waste is a serious problem.
Introduction People tend to consume a lot, when there is consumption, there is waste – and that waste becomes a big problem that needs taken care of, which costs a lot of time, space and resources. If not managed, in turn, the world that we live in will become a hazardous place for all living things. According to the World Bank, people throughout the world, “spend $2.3 trillion a year on food and beverages alone” (Global Consumption Database, 2018), that is quite a lot. In addition to that, the world count mentions that, “we throw out over 50 tons of household waste every second. A number that will double by 2030”
