Advantages Of Preventive Maintenance

Preventive maintenance may be a daily maintenance (cleaning, inspection, oiling and re-tightening), designed to retain the health condition of equipment and prevent failure through the prevention of deterioration, periodic inspection or equipment condition diagnosis, to measure deterioration. The intent for preventive maintenance is to prevent maintenance problems or failure before they take place by following routine and comprehensive maintenance procedures. The goal is to achieve fewer, shorter and more predictable outages. Advantage of preventive maintenance • Costs are distributed more evenly. • Easier planning of maintenance and ordering spares. • It increased component life cycle. • It assures manager that equipment is being maintained. …show more content…

Also, the condition of in-service equipment is use to predict when maintenance should be performed this is base on the premise that prevention is better than cure. This method promises cost saving over routine or time based preventive maintenance, because task is performed only when warranted. Predictive maintenance allow convenient scheduling of corrective maintenance prevent unexpected equipment failures. The key is the right information in the right time. By knowing which equipment needs maintenance, maintenance work can be better planned (spare parts, people, etc) and what would have been unplanned stops are transformed to shorter and fewer planned stops, thus increasing plant availability. Predictive maintenance measure equipment on a regular basis, track the measurement over time, and take corrective action with measurement is about to go outside the equipment operating limits. The different between periodic maintenance and predictive maintenance is predictive maintenance is condition base maintenance. Predictive maintenance differs from preventive maintenance because it relies in the actual condition of the machine rather than on some present schedule. Studies have estimated that a properly function predictive maintenance program can prove a saving …show more content…

Also condition monitoring is the process of monitoring a parameter of condition in machinery (vibration, temperature, etc.) in order to identify a significant change which is indicative of a developing fault. It is a major component of predictive maintenance. The use of condition monitoring allows maintenance to be scheduled or other actions to be taken to prevent failure and avoid its consequences. The benefit of condition monitoring is that it addressed the condition that would have shortened the normal lifespan before failure develops. Condition monitoring is use in rotating equipment and other machinery (pumps, electric motors, internal combustion engine,
