Communication is a natural skill that was awarded by God to all mankind. Communication skills can be improved to the extent that high according to the goals and interests of individuals. Generally, communication can be defined as the sharing or exchange of thought by oral, written, or nonverbal ways. To function effectively, managers need to know and be able to apply various strategic communication skills corresponding to the various management tasks. These tasks may require non-verbal skills, presentation, or expressed as managers meet other people, talk in a meeting, or to prepare a report to be read by customers or people who are higher up in the organizational ladder. To work effectively, managers also need to know the source of the information. Finally, managers need to understand the different communication channels that exist. There are two types of organization in the flow of communication, namely downward and upward communication. Two of these communications have advantages and disadvantages of each. Downward communication occurs when information and message flows downward through the official network of the organization or structure of the command hierarchy. In other words, the message and the message begins at the top level organizational hierarchy and moves down toward the ground. Responses to communicate downward move along the same path. DESCRIPTION In week five we learnt about communication channels, it means the mode of communication people use to communicate in an organisation in order to perform tasks. INTERPRETE It is important to choose the correct form of communication when dealing with employees because communication develop good relationship among people without misunderstanding .When communicating we need to choose the right channel to communicate for example using electronic ,face to face communication ,written communication ( Samson & Daft 2015).By coming up with effective communication I will need to identify how choose wisely to avoid misunderstanding among ourselves.
The organisational structure affects communication within Macmillan as each sector on the bottom of the structure has a team or a least a group of qualified people that are used to get the most out of each area. Then they would feed back to the chief executive with meetings where they are able to discuss and decide on the future. Meetings are valuable as they are a good place to learn about the organisation and can help meet objectives. Also through the sending of emails through the organisation or using a fax machine which both can send vital documents throughout the organisation?

Communication is very key and important in any organization as it facilitates a proper relationship between employees of a firm. There are certain factors that can distort effective communication in a firm and some of these factors are, filtering, selective perception, information overload, emotions, language, silence communication apprehension and lying. Also, keep in mind that cross-cross cultural factors clearly create the potential for increased communication problems. These factors should be looked at and addressed in the firm to increase the level of effective communication. Communication is effected by a mixture of variables such as an “authority gradient”, style of communication and fatigue which impacts the way information is communicated between people. These factors can form a barrier called the “authority gradient” where individuals are classified on factors such as level of education, gender or job position which determines how much control they have over a situation.
