Traditinal methods are very easy to construct and very cost effective irrespective of modern methods even though many of traditional water harvesting methods cannot be implemented in urban areas but they are best suited for rural areas. Traditional methods of water harvesting can become more effective if scientific attempts are combine. Nothing is better than something Government should provide funding and facilitate them and encourage Traditional methods in their restricted domain. For example bamboo irrigation and drip irrigation have same use that is irrigating soil drop by drop hence increasing the moisture in soil around its roots. Drip irrigation is more effective and surely better than bamboo irrigation but cost of implantation of bamboo irrigation is very less compare to drip irrigation even though its life is less as compared to tackle irrigation. In today 's time drip irrigation is one of the best way of irrigating soil but we can alter the fact its channels are made from PVC pipes which are plastic waste whereas Bamboo irrigation channels are made from bamboo which after decomposition use as raw material in preparing fertilizers. Tanks, johads are replace with ferro cement tanks, roof top rain water harvesting in urban areas.
