“Web Analytics is the process of measuring, collecting, analysing and reporting of online data for the purpose of understanding how a website is used by its visitors and how to optimise its usage. The main purpose of web analytics is for the developers of websites to be able to understand their site users behaviours and what they’re doing on the website.” (Statistical Concept 2011)
Web analytics enables website developers to set goals and adjust them depending on the behaviour and activity of site users. It also gives them insights into users behaviour and activities on the website. They could do this by using the real time overview report in google analytics which lets them know which devices visitors to the website are using. This will enable them to use ads which are aimed at smartphone users or desktop users as these are more commonly used instead of tablet.
Another way Google Analytics will help improve the Google Merchandise Store’s digital marketing campaign is that it’ll help you figure out which age range to aim your campaign towards. You could find this in the Audience report heading under demographic in Google Analytics which will help you set up your campaign and give you a focal point in which age group you should be aiming your campaign towards. On the age report, people aged between 25-34 are the most frequent visitors to the Google Merchandise Store and so should aim their adverts towards that age range. Also in the demographic report the Google Merchandise Store could check the Gender demographic which shows that the website is visited by 72% of males compared to 28% of females which shows that they should aim their digital marketing campaign towards
Marketers can successfully reach Gen Z on their devices and will likely be remembered more than a traditional ad they may see in passing. Also, Gen Z needs some motivation to view your ad so give them a reason to look off the screen by appealing to their digital lifestyle but don’t overdo it and sound cheesy. Figuring out your target market is a very important first step to figuring out a new marketing strategy for a company. The company my group chose was, Dave and Busters. Dave and Busters is an American-style entertainment center, featuring a restaurant, sports bar, and an arcade. There are many things that influence the demographic of a target market.
