The idea of segregating racial minorities into crowded residential areas is a reality, which influences lower socioeconomic standings and limits equality to health. Institutionalized racism serves to seemingly brand and constrain upward movements of success in society. Many of the schools, including junior high and high school, located in minority filled communities are limited in their educational merit and do not instill and prepare for higher education and advanced opportunities in employment (Williams & Collins, 2001). Residentially segregated schools are said to fall short in areas of teacher quality and educational resources (Williams & Collins, 2001). Teens today are fighting a losing battle against stress. Schools pressure teens into competing in tests and even when applying to colleges. According to Noelle Leonard, PhD, a senior research scientist at the New York University college of Nursing "School, homework, extracurricular activities, sleep, repeat—that's what it can be for some of these students." Pressure from parents who expect too much, struggling with school work, applying to colleges, and participating in extracurricular activities all contribute to a teenager’s stress level. More than 27% of teens during the school year claim that they deal with “extreme stress” (Jayson Sharon, USA Today) that can affect everyday living for them, along with a majority of other stressors.
Many people claim that racism no longer exists; however, the minorities’ struggle with injustice is ubiquitous. In the “Anything Can Happen With Police Around”: Urban Youth Evaluate Strategies of Surveillance in Public Places,” Michelle Fine and his comrades were inspired to conduct a survey over one of the major social issues - how authority figures use a person’s racial identity as a key factor in determining how to enforce laws and how the surveillance is problematic in public space. In the beginning of the article, she used the existed survey reports to support and justify their purpose to perform this survey. The survey analyzed urban youth interactions with authority figures, comprising police, educators, social workers and security guards.
Countless numbers of African-Americans risked their lives against white supremacy, although they were not able to witness the changes they may have caused. African-Americans fought many battles against a world that screamed freedom, however, the African-American race was deprived of their liberty, rights and peace of mind. They experienced slavery, Jim Crow laws and even stood face to face with individuals who claimed to be “not racist,” while stabbing them in their backs the moment they turned around. African-Americans’ stereotypical image dates all the way back to the late 1800’s and the behavior is still being presented over one hundred years later. I agree they were trying to preserve a way of life that many people were accoustomed to and that did not directly iknfringe on their rights of of coure they were blinded. too blinded to see the unjustice too blinded to see the seperate but equal nonsense they were spewing was utter nonesne. If you could not take the children from those white schools and send them to the African American ones without the circurillum changing or them being appaled by the classroom conditions than equality was not present.
There are lots of major problems in our society and one huge problem is racial stereotypes. People take it very serious and you can see it happening everywhere in the world and it needs to change. During the segregation days the whites would treat the blacks like trash they were racist and they had to do everything separate. The whites thought that blacks people messed everything up or either they didn't know what they were doing and one stereotype they use to use is all black people did not amount to anything they had to be walked through everything.

Unfortunately, racial slurs are remain a problem to this day. Of course, we have come a very long way from the early 1900’s, when America was separating blacks and whites. This segregation tore America apart with riots and killings. But finally, it call came to an end with credit to martin Luther King, the Freedom Riders, and many other brave souls. It is an amazing sight to see a classroom full of many mixed races, all content with one another, and no animosity between different races of students.

Perhaps is there an equal opportunity in the United States for non colored teachers to see African American students like they see their white peers. African Americans education has been negatively impacted by racism. It is observed that white teachers are known to label their black students as troublemakers. For black students who looks for a degree, their degree isn’t guaranteed for that student because of racism.
There are many demographic issues that come into play during the school years. These kids are growing and coming to know who they are. Sometimes it is hard to realize that you are different and do not fit in the mold that everyone else seems to come from. One of the big issues is ethnicity.
