Age of Acquisition (AoA) - Gaining information early on in life will result in quicker reaction time when the information is subsequently recalled. Hence large body of research has been done on AoA, (particularly in word identification and picture identification studies) supporting that the speed of recall is actually largely depending on when the words or objects were first obtained. This phenomenon was first identified by (Carroll and White 1973b). Their finding was an important milestone as it demonstrates that prior acquired names of objects are more likely to be absorbed into our memory, than the later obtained ones. Findings show that WF plays an extensive role in most of the AoA studies. To define, WF takes place if a word is frequently met.(*) Therefore often used in day-to-day life, (eg; clear frequent vs incisive not that frequent) input and output has to be constant by this means, hearing and processing of the word thus verbally communicating them. To sum up words which is actively present within the sample's overall mental dictionary will lead to faster RT in recall, in contrast to the words which are less frequently used (Morrison & Ellis, 1995)
Furthermore AoA studies have been highly conducted in the past few decades. However most of the studies have been rather interested in word and image recognition. Accordingly the studies about face recognition and AoA effects are rather narrow.

Coming of Age in Mississippi “Coming of Age in Mississippi” is an autobiography written by Anne Moody in 1968. The book was about the life of Anne Moody when she was a child and to a point where she got involved in getting civil rights for her people. Anne Moody played a significant role in the civil rights movements. She encountered many challenges growing up as a poor black girl. The author successfully depicts what it was like to live in rural Mississippi during the civil rights movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s through her personal experiences.
The two theories I have chosen are Terrie Moffitt’s dual pathway developmental theory and Sampson and Laub’s age-graded developmental theory. Moffitt’s dual pathway theory really focuses on the relationship between age and crime. Moffitt looks at the life-course of offenders to see where the criminal habit developed. She categorizes offenders into two categories: life-course persistent offenders and adolescent-limited offenders. Life-course offenders make up the smallest percentage of criminals but also make up the highest percentage of crime.

Coming of age can be defined as an person’s journey of facing challenges that make them into a mature individual. Although coming of age is a different experience for each individual, some experiences are commonly found among pieces of work. Common experiences of coming of age are demonstrated in Marigolds by Eugenia W. Collier, involving Lizabeth’s loss of innocence, the struggle of internal conflict in Sue Monk Kidd’s, The Secret Life of Bees, and Mattie Ross’ journey of coming of age in True Grit by Charles Portis. Every person’s coming of age experience is different, but somewhere in life, everyone will lose their innocence.
Explain the reasons why children and young people’s development may not follow the expected pattern: The reasons why children and young people’s development may not follow the expected patters is due to them maybe having a disability, emotional influences, physical influences, environmental influences, cultural influences, social influences, learning needs and communication skills. Children with disabilities require a lot more support than those without a disability in order to help them develop their skills and become more independent.
