CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of Study
Cost plays an important role in business or services. In every each sector there will present of cost as well as plantation sector. Harvesting technique is the most factors to improve majority of commercial crops yield. It also contributes in increasing cost of oil palm plantation. Years before, harvesting technique was done manually by labour. There were more money to spend in term of salary to finish large area and it takes long period of time. Lately, because of labor shortage, people start to full use the technologies to overcome problem. It is very important for both agricultural and manufacturing sectors to enhance the acceptance of modern technologies and production in increasing productivity

Implementation of agricultural mechanization to the use of different power sources and enhances the farm implements and machinery based on the non-similar operation done. Malaysia’s agriculture is still one of the greatest project and the most critical part in Malaysia's economy. It shows by stakeholder’s effort such as MPOB and FELDA to overcome the labour shortage by make more research and development towards the practice of mechanization in oil palm plantation (M.L. Norzam, …show more content…
According to (Ismail, 2010), Malaysia represents around 55% of world palm oil production and around 62% of world export. Malaysia as the main producer of palm oil thinks that it is important to satisfy the world’s demand of oils and fats. Malaysia’s economic development was mostly contributed by oil palm industry. Although, the Malaysian oil palm industry needs more attention on its innovative effort to meet the world challenge and to maintain as the top world producer of palm oil. The significant issue confronted by the oil palm plantation is shortage of labour, which might be comprehended with the presentation of proper machineries (Ismail, 2010).
Many benefits listed by Asoegwu (1998) through his study that made in Nigeria. It includes achieving low time taken in farm operation that due to the increasing of yield, low level of dependent to direct labour, reduction of losses in harvesting process and contribution to effective land use.

That is how an increase in mechanical advances made industries more productive and sped up
With machines that could mass-produce and a plethora of workers, factories could now produce much more than they could have
When Japan and India began to mechanize their cotton industries between the 1880s and 1930s, several similarities and differences surfaced. Both Japan and India’s cotton yarn productions began to increase rapidly, workers in both countries faced similar poor working conditions, and the transaction of workers going from rural to urban areas were protruding. However, both countries contained a difference in the type of workers in the cotton industry workforce as well as the displacement of skilled Indian workers as opposed to Japanese workers. (Thesis) In the mechanization of the cotton industry, Japan and India similarly shared their ways of production in which they both had rapid growth with machine-made cotton between the 1880s and the 1930s
In addition to, the development of technology was one of the problems of for the workers around the company, which are everything substituted by the machines instead of
They use livestock waste to create electricity using anaerobic digesters, which convert manure to methane.” This shows not only with new technology they are able to track crop grow and other sorts but they are also able to turn aout livestock into something better than having it around for awhile. These are reasons why people may disagree with me and feel industrial farms are better to feed the
1. Explain the plantation system and its relationship to indentured servitude. As Virginia’s tobacco farms flourished, local society became that of master-slave. There was a lack of community, no real towns, churches or schools.
To have a successful rice paddy, you have to rise before dawn and work hard all day, every day. The amount of work and diligence you put into the paddy directly affects how successful it will be. In contrast, many Western farmers learned to use large farm machinery to reduce their work. But in China and other Asian countries, the rice paddies are so small and on steep mountainsides that would not accommodate such machinery. The result is that rice paddies still require hard, personalized, individualized manual labor to thrive as well as commitment, meaningful work involving autonomy, complexity, and
Swidden agriculture also known as slash-and-burn is depicted in a negative light because of myths that has been created from people who are not familiar with its practice or do not understands its purpose. One of the narrative is that it creates a useless and unsustainable land. This could be easily misunderstood as the image of the land after being burned can be seen lifeless and barren. People tend to associate a fertile land with lush greens with the sun in the background and not the image of swidden agriculture. Furthermore, media portrayal of wildfire only puts the idea that wildfire are harmful and should be put out which only makes swidden agriculture seem destructive.
Places that have sparse or seasonal rainfall could not sustain agriculture without irrigation. In areas that have irregular precipitation, irrigation improves crop growth and quality. By allowing farmers to grow crops on a consistent schedule, irrigation also creates more reliable food supplies. In document 3 it says "These irrigation systems was the first of their kind and allowed Mesopotamia to grow a surplus of wheat and other crops." this shows why irrigation systems are important and how they impacted the world.
“The vision of a huge fertile garden extending from the Appalachians to the Pacific Ocean had inspired Americans since the early days of the republic” (Out of Many - A History of the American People, pg. 622). Since its beginning, the American ways of farming had always been gradually evolving, but in the time between 1865 and 1900, it transformed like never before. The American tradition of agriculture would experience dramatic changes, as the growth of production and agribusiness would ensue from revolutions in technology, massive increase in population, and alterations in government policies. A major factor in changing the way of agriculture was the new technology being developed in farming and transportation.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The increased manufacturing and operating cost at Temecula Plant (Spreader production) have influenced the decision of corporate people of Scotts-Miracle -GRO company to consider outsource the production of company to low wage country such as China, to increase the profit margin. So, Bawcombe, Director of operations, of Scott Temecula plant was under constant pressure to justify why Scott should not outsource/off shore. There are three alternatives- continue production in Temecula Manufacturing Plant, Outsource to China, Off shore in China. To arrive at logical solution, the qualitative analysis (risk/benefit analysis) and Quantitative & Sensitivity analysis is performed.
(Deverell and White 354). With this new technology, it eliminated the reason for craftsmen, because more product could be made at once. The new technology of machinery made working easier and not as complicated to master. This machinery also was the reason fabric had increased in
Child cotton workers were exceedingly unhealthy /The state of the health of the cotton evidence factories for children is much worse than...in other employments. " In the document A :Dr.Ward source House of the Lords committee ,Dr.Ward said accidents were very often admitted to the rilmary through the children 's hands and arms getting caught in the machine. Children who labor in the mills are victims of frightful oppression and killing toll, they have often been crucially beaten by the spinners of the overlookers. This proves the unhealthy nature of the factory, since the children were getting their body parts caught in the machine and getting beaten,"turning crippled." "Last summer I visited three cotton factories with Dr.Clough of Preston and
Chapter 1 Section 3 p.18 Section Assessment 4, 5, 7 4. If the number of farms have decreased since 1950, this means that the production possibilities for the farm output has decreased because there are only a few farms available to produce goods. 5. A. The invention of the computer would increase the production possibilities curve because they were in such high demand compared to farmed goods which became an opportunity cost.
As we know, business industry is very important because it involve the incomes and outcomes of money flow. With the new technology, business industry such as factory, private company and shop has become more profitable with the help of various advance machines and equipments. Hundred years ago there was no machine at all and there is no such thing as electronic mail and the business run only by geographical location. The advanced of machines and equipments has made business can be run without difficulties and run smoothly. Well because of that the standard of living rise up among
