Airmail in the United States The mail service is very essential in our lives. We use it to send letters, documents and packages to places and people for communication or business purposes. One of the most significant mail services is the airmail service. Airmail is using aircrafts or any aerial vehicles to transport mail and packages from place to another. It is fast and reliable. Nowadays, many countries uses airmail. A person from Japan can now send his documents to Cambridge University in the UK for admission just in one day. Also, people can now buy a t-shirt from India and get it delivered to them by airmail. Of course, one of the countries that is most known for using the airmail is the United States of America. Earle L. Ovington’s trip was the start signal for the airmail service industry and eventually the air transportation business. His devotion to innovate ushered in ideas to use airplanes for the benefits of the United States such as creating more job opportunities. Many acts came after to improve the mail service and aviation in the United States. For example, The Air Mail Act of 1925 (the Kelly Act) which helped contractors get proper payment, The Air Commerce Act Of 1926 that made sure that the aircrafts, pilots, navigational facilities are functional and worthy to be used, Airmail Act of 1930 which added the weight factor to the regular payment method and The Air Mail Act of 1934 that would cause the separation of the airlines from manufactures. All of these acts would help shape today’s airmail service. Thus, giving the proper set for many famous, big and successful airmail companies such as; FedEx Express, DHL Aviation and UPS Airlines.
