Al (Alphonse) Capone was born on Tuesday the 17th January 1899 in Brooklyn, New York City. His parents were called Teresina Capone and Gabriel Capone, and they were poor Italian immigrants, and he was one of 8 siblings. They had immigrated from Naples, Italy to Brooklyn, New York City. He was the fourth of five sons and two daughters. His brother names were Salvatore (Frank) Raffaele (Ralph "Bottles") and Vincenzo. The names of his sisters were Rosalia (Rose) and Mafalda. He quit school in the 6th Grade (Year 7, 11 years of age) and joined two “kid gangs” the Brooklyn Rippers and the Forty Thieves Juniors.

John Dillinger was named after his father John. At a young age John Dillinger's mother died. As a child, John Dillinger went by, Johnnie. John Dillinger had a gang called “The Dirty Dozen”. As a gang, they would play small pranks on people and get into trouble (Biography.com Editors).

In the 1930’s, criminals were viewed inadequate from the public. The public’s perception on these inadequate criminals was that they wanted death penalties for them. Furthermore, the police prohibited people from drinking alcohol. Because of prohibition, organized crime has become terribly and extremely increased such as bank robbery, drug trafficking, kidnapping, and gambling. More than 12,000 murders were happening every year in America by 1926.
Al capone did not only do violent crimes but he helped the people around him by setting up a soup kittchen during depression and a city wide program to give free milk to schools kids. In 1939 he was found guilty of tax evasion and was jailed for eight years. while in jail prohibiton ended and grew ill from syphilis. Al capone was released in 1939 and moved to florida. On january 25, 1947 Al capone died.

During the 1920’s gang related crime was a serious issue. The leader of all this violence and corruption was a man named Al “Scarface” Capone (“Al Capone”). This organized crime, dehumanization, and corruption, became the ultimate image of Chicago for people throughout the world. He was largely immersed in things like gambling, prostitution, and the illegal sale of liquor. He was not convicted for any of his crimes, even the St. Valentine's Day massacre of 1929, until he was imprisoned for tax evasion (Horan).

He started to get into trouble as a young boy when he started hanging out with the wrong crowds. As a young kid he went by the name “Johnnie”. He started getting into trouble by doing pranks on people in his neighborhood, and local corner stores around. He then started to get into petty theft stealing candy bars, gum and other food items. Al Capone was a predator, people who got in his way were his prey. He did not just kill people to get what he wanted, he was successful in large crime organizations.
He went to school and barely knew how to speak any English, so for any kid this was tough. In school Luciano started to act like the much older gangsters he came in contact with out of school. He would tell kids in school to pay them their lunch money and he would protect them, and if they didn’t pay him, he would beat them up. By the age of nine he already became involved in extortion, mugging, and shoplifting.
