Al Capone is a child from and Italian family he is also known as scar face. He is famous for being a gangster in Chicago during the prohibition era. He was sent to Alcatraz prison in 1934 for tax invasion. He had a great amount of money he had $100 million. In 1818 he married a women by the name of Mae Coughlin after he was married he settled down as a book keeper and took a break from being a gangster. But he couldn’t keep away for long he began working for his boss Johnny Torrio after Capons dad died. Al and Mae stayed together in till he died they had one child together. When he dropped out of school at the age of 14 he met the mob boss Johnny Torrio who taught him the importance of maintaining a respectable front while running a business. Capone joined his street boy gang that became a five point gang. In 1909 Capone went to Chicago. It was rumored that Capone or Frankie Yale killed Big Jim Colosimo Johnny’s boss which made him gang leader. When prohibition began in the 1919 opened up operations and made then gain a lot wealth. By that time Johnny had retired that makes Al Capone mob boss. He took over everything from gambling, bootlegging, and prostitution. Al gained more territory from gunning down rival gangs and gaining there territory. As his status grow he refused to have protection like most mob bosses did because he thought he could protect himself. Capone was charged with 22 counts of tax fraud. His gang was charged with 5,000 separate violations. Most of the witnesses was afraid to testify but the ones who did like I said before went into witness protection. When the press found out about this they was out raged. Capone was really cocky when he thought all he would get for all of the charges was 5 years. He was less cocky when he realized they wouldn’t take his plea bargain and then he knew he would get more than five years. On October 6, 1931 he was escorted by 14 detectives to the court house he was wearing a blue suit. Everyone knew that Al Capone’s men would bribe the jury to say he’s not guilty so the judge changed out the jury for another one in the court room. Al was stunned and so was his lawyer because they thought they had the case in the bag and then it hit them that he was going down. It was a long 9 hour discussion on October 17, 1931 they found Al Capone guilty on counts of tax envision and was sentenced to 11 years in prison with no bail. Al Capone was seeing more crime and more people getting hurt that did nothing to be harmed. Since Al Capone was the biggest crime lord, he made all the other gangs to “tone it down” on their crimes. There were no crimes for two months. After being captured he went to court and tried to bribe the court after finding out who was going to be there but at the last second, the court changed, and Al Capone could bribe his way out and was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison.

He was running gambling and prostitution rings and was expanding his territory by killing off rival gang leaders and taking over their gangs.
