How does a person who has a normal childhood with good parents and is smart in school become one of the most famous gangsters in the US history? The name “Scarface” Capone is still known to most people even though he died in 1947. Capone was a good student and slowly got influenced into the gangster life and became one of the most wanted notorious gangsters ever. Alphonse Gabiel Capone was born January17, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York (Biography.com Editors). His parents, Gabriel and Teresina, immigrated from Italy. In New ( Biogaphy.com Editors).York City. Capones Papa was barber, and his Ma was a seamstress. His father died of a heart attack in 1920. The two parents had eight kids, (“Al,Capone”). His brothers were named Frank and Ralph. Frank was shot and killed in Chicago by police. His upbringing was normal and his family was respectful and professional, even though they were poor (Biography.com Editors).

Capone worked the numbers game for Torrio, but told his parents that he had a real job. He then collected money for protection and learned to assault people and shoot a gun. He was Torrio’s best thug. When Torrio moved to chicago Capone started working for Frankie Yale. Frankie Yale murdered people for a living(Burdick). According to the biography, Al Capone was born to Italian immigrant parents who were educated and came to the United States in the 1830s. Notably, despite their professional background, they could only afford life in Brooklyn Tenement, a poor neighborhood in New York City. Initially, the family lived in an environment that was preoccupied with Italian immigrants, mainly by sailors who came to unwind in the surrounding bars. The biography says that Al Capone later moved to a more mixed culture society, where he probably developed his street-minded life. The brutal and inadequate schooling he got in his elementary Catholic coupled up with meeting gangster, Johnny Torrio shaped his future which also reflected the economic status of Chicago at the time.
During the 1920’s crime was at an all time high in Chicago due to prohibition and turf wars between rival gangs. One of the most famous gangsters during this time period was Alphonse “Al” Capone. Born in Brooklyn, New York to two poor immigrant parents on January 17, 1899 he grew up being active in two different kid gangs, the Brooklyn Rippers and the Forty Thieves Juniors. Each person would do something different to keep the cops thinking the incidents were just a coincidence. Ordinarily, Capone only did minor things such as stealing food and hustling people for money to buy drugs and alcohol. These minor crimes that Capone committed as a child set off a lifetime of love for power and money.

Alphonse Gabriel Capone started out as a very good student and then became the leader of a massive criminal organization. Al Capone went to a public school till sixth grade, except he was discriminated against due to the fact he was a immigrant. The discrimination towards him made him volatile and eventually beat up a teacher. He was then expelled from the school and picked up odd jobs to pay the bills. While he was picking up odd jobs he picked up a job as a bouncer for Johnny Torrio.
Al Capone was a very powerful leader and an all around mastermind. Capone was raised around gangs in the city when he moved there from Naples and joined one in his teens called Johnny Torrio’s James Street Boys ran by Johnny Torrio. Later, he moved on to the Five Points Gang, which he graduated from. He got into a gang fight and someone cut his face with a razor hence the nickname “Scarface” (Grossman). When Torrio entered a brothel business he sent for Capone to be a bouncer at the saloon.
Capone also showed kids not to do what he does. He told kids not to join in the stuff he led and he also wouldn’t accept kids into the mob. He wouldn’t put hits out on kids or girls, he made sure they were safe, most of the time.
