Al Capone was born on January 17, 1899, in Brooklyn, New York. He was born to Italian immigrants, Gabriel and Teresa Capone, who had just immigrated from Naples, Italy, 3 months before Alphonse was born. Alphonse also had 8 other siblings: Frank, Ralph, James, Matthew, Umberto, Mafalda, and Ermina. Al Capone started school and was very intelligent for his age. However, as time passed, he began to fall behind other students. He ended his school career when he dropped out of school after the 6th grade. Everyone began to gossip about him, but he didn’t need to prove his intelligence to anyone yet. Al Capone would soon show society what he was capable of.
When Al Capone was 13, he joined the Five Points street gang. It was named Five Points because there were only 5 people permitted into the gang. Each person would do something different to keep the cops thinking the incidents were just a coincidence. Ordinarily, Capone only did minor things such as stealing food and hustling people for money to buy drugs and alcohol. Capone was known to ruthless as he rose the ranks. When Capone started he was just a bouncer. While he was a bouncer he made a comment to a woman and her brother pulled a knife and cut him. After a while he was sent to Chicago because he wounded a rival gang member. This all led to what Al Capone is known for today.
He was the King of organized crime in the roaring twenties he ruled most of the crimes in Chicago, gambling, bootlegging, prostitution etc. but the law could never prove that he was guilty of those crimes so how did the famous Italian mafia end up serving prison time?
