Babylonians might have invented mathematics; however, Abu Jaafar Mohammad Ibn Mousa Al Khwarizmi was the brilliant mathematician who perfected it (Kéchichian, 2013). He was undoubtedly one of the greatest mathematicians in the world noting one of his greatest works to be the “Hisab Al Jabr wal-Muqabalah” (The Book of Integration and Equation), which introduced the use of Indo-Arabic numerals that, over time, came to be known as algorithms (Kechichian, 2013). He was noted for many achievements including the invention of "aljabr" (Algebra) and introduced many different mathematical deductions and mechanisms that improved our knowledge and understanding in the present and later in the future. Very little is known about Al Khawarizmi's life; …show more content…
His manuscripts, recorded with scopes and longitudes, urban communities, mountains, oceans, islands, topographical districts, and waterways. The original copy incorporates maps which all in all are more precise than those of many scientists such as Ptolemy, who is a scientist whose views and work were corrected by Al-Khawarizmi (Syed, 2015). Moreover, Al Khwarizmi also composed essential work about Astronomy, covering timetables, computing genuine positions of the sun, moon and planets, tables of sines and tangents, round stargazing, celestial tables, parallax and eclipse computations, and visibility of the moon. In spite of the fact that his astronomical work was in light of that of the Indians, and the vast majority of the qualities from which he built his tables originated from Hindu cosmologists, al-Khwarizmi was also probably inspired by Ptolemy's work as well. Al-Khwarizmi performed definite computations of the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets, and did various eclipse counts. Notwithstanding an essential treatise on Astronomy, Al-Khwarizmi composed a book on galactic tables, which was likewise interpreted into European dialects and, later, into Chinese (Syed,
Even though astronomers during the Middle Ages had adopted the “Geocentric” theory, later more conclusive evidence led to the adoption of the “Heliocentric” theory. Along with the new evidence founded by scholars, medicine was also altered, in various ways. For example, “the Middle Ages belief that each sign of the zodiac governed a certain part of the body,” (Doc. D) in other worlds, that “the constellation of stars called Aries and Ram controlled the head,” and so on. (Doc. D) Due to these findings and further examination of the human corpse; held by Andreas Vesalius, lead to a better understanding of the human
I believe the bail conditions that Omar Khadr received were fair conditions, but the Canadian government should issue and apology to Omar Khadr for contributing to the violation of his rights. Although I believe that Omar Khadr was guilty of the 5 war crime charges against him because of his confession, he should have had a fair trial regarding his crimes. One of the charges was for the murder of Christopher Speer, a U.S. soldier, during the battle in Afghanistan. In an interview with the National Post, Khadr explained the situation and how he felt before throwing the grenade. “I was thinking, ‘What should I do…?’
Such as the way people thought the layout of the universe was. There were two different ways it was assumed to look either in the favor of Ptolemy or Copernicus. “He developed a theory of the universe that was adopted by most scholars” (Doc C). The difference in scientific information from the Renaissance to the Middle Ages verified how statistics has developed throughout time. Roman astronomer, Ptolemy, developed a geocentric (Earth-centered) model of the universe which was believed to be true by most scholars (Doc C).
Al-Khwatizmi conducted an extensive study of Indian numerals, making him a certifiable expert on the subject, after which he wrote a well known algebra textbook. The basic math featured in Document 4 demonstrate the significance of this, as these principles are used by students from kindergarten to high school today. Another important aspect of Islam is the Quran, or the Islamic scripture. Because the Quran is the direct word of Allah, everything in Islamic society, including the law

Greek Mythology and its Influences on Modern Society By Jenna Marie A. Macalawa, Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite Campus 2014 Myths are not dissimilar to fairy tales, legends, and sagas, but its period is distinctly different from usual existential time. It is considered as an expression of childhood experiences, and it also explains the origin and meaning of the world. According to Long (1994), “The term mythology may describe a certain body of myths, for example, Greek, African, or Scandinavian, or it may refer to the study of myths” (p.694). These collections of narratives are superior when it comes to influencing different areas of knowledge. There are numerous types of mythology, but Ancient Greece is the one that has given an immense influence on modern society.
But the construction of these architectural landmarks was not easy to make, there was a prerequisite of some form of advanced math and geometry. But they used math for other things as well such as, numbers to keep track of business transactions. The Ancient Egyptians were the first
