A small barren island, surrounded by the frigid waters of the San Francisco Bay is home to some of the most infamous criminals ever known. This island jail is known as Alcatraz. In 1934 many criminals were rising in power, so in order to keep control of them, Alcatraz was built. Three of the most famous inmates at Alcatraz were Frank Morris, and the Anglin brothers. These three men were famous because of their ingenious escape plan. No one knows if they died, or lived on that night, but due to the great amount of evidence, it is likely that they survived. It was around midnight on June 12, 1962, and all of the inmates were asleep at Alcatraz besides three. Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers were wide awake, ready to escape through an air vent in the back of the cell. According to Scholastic Scope Magazines, Frank Morris and the Anglin Brothers had used sharpened utensils, and a handmade drill to make a hole around the ventilation shaft large enough to fit through. Once they had crawled through the air vent, they would climb up a network of pipes to the roof. They would then climb down the roof, inflate a raft they had made out of raincoats, and set off towards Angel Island through the frigid San Francisco Bay. No one knows if they …show more content…
Acording to www.wikipedia.org no evidence of any of the three mens bodies have been found. If the bodies would have been found, it would be concluded that the escape attempt was a fail, but no bodies have been found. The FBI has been searching for the bodies for more than 50 years, and still they have not found any evidence of any of the men’s bodies. Due to the fact that the FBI has been looking for the bodies for more that 50 years, and still hasn’t found any evidence of the bodies shows that the escapees are probably somewhere out there. Not only have the bodies not been found, but there were also a few sightings that show that the escape was a
Because of this, they created a raft and used it to get to Angel Island and they
No one heard from him nor had seen him in public ever again. Attempts have been to try and find him or if he was killed to try and find the suspect, but no evidence was found and no traces of his whereabouts were even close to being
The Yuma Territorial Prison opened in 1875, but the first prisoners were not moved to the prison, in till 1876. Over three thousand prisoners were housed during the thirty-three years the prison was operational. Yuma Territorial Prison is perceived throughout its many roles as a luxury for the community in Yuma, Arizona. The community in Yuma, Arizona might think this because of the many benefits the prison gave the inmate’s and the town people. In view of the community the prison played many roles other than just being a prison.
However, no search was conducted since a day later, a big storm caused them to leave the area. I believe this is what happened
Anyone who tried to escape would have gotten killed by the guards Have you heard of the 1962 escape? Well this is a true story on how the three inmates escaped the prison in 1962. On the night of June 11,1962 Frank Morris and the Anglin Brothers Made a plan to escape the prison in 1962. First the inmates made a drill to make a hole in the wall to escape, Then made the dummy heads out of cardboard, cement chips and soap to make it look like they were still in their cells.
Only 26 of the prisoners escaped and from those 26 prisoners, 24 were already outside of the facility. Even after the prison closed, the community continued to use it. The Yuma Territorial Prison was fascinating because of the how it was opened and closed, the different punishments they were given for not following the rules
The prison was fairly unique when compared to the other prisons at the time because of the its high prison standards. During the prisons
The Natalee Ann Holloway Investigation Several key cases exist that serve as teaching examples to those joining the criminal justice community. One such a case is that of Natalee Ann Holloway. The Natalee Ann Holloway investigation is especially atypical because no one has ever been tried, and her body has never been found. I believe that the investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Ann Holloway was severely mishandled by the Aruban authorities.
If it weren’t for the cadaver dogs on the site, investigators might have never found the bodies of the four young
The murder theory is the most convincing, but the lack of evidence makes it hard to believe. Also due to the lack of evidence, the assumed name theory is also hard to consider. Though the authorities have failed to provide evidence to Hoffa's whereabouts, one thing is certain. The James Riddle ¨Jimmy¨ Hoffa disappearance case has baffled the American people for nearly 43
Evidence shows that Simmons also bludgeoned and shot his visiting son. Simmons then proceeded to strangle his three year old granddaughter and later evidence shows that the three bodies were found in a pit dug by the other children. Later that same day the school bus dropped off the remaining Simmons kids at the house for Christmas break. Evidence proves that the remaining children were murdered individually either by strangulation/ and or drowning in a rain barrel, their bodies were found in the same place the other three were found in…. The bottom of the pit that was dug for the outhouse.
A few things went wrong, which made people question how effective this prison really was. Afterall they couldn’t talk, if they did or disobeyed something else they had to go to a dark place. Called the hole, this entire place could make someone go crazy. Prisoners actually managed to escape, even the slightest wrong thing is a huge open door for escape. A couple people escaped, Teddy Cole, Ralph Roe,John Anglin, Clarence Anglin, Bernie Coy and Frank Morris.

The city of Yuma, Arizona is not a city that catches tourists eyes a lot, but every once in a while it does and one of the reasons people notice Yuma is because of the Yuma Territorial Prison. The Yuma Territorial Prison has been through thick and thin and is still standing today, a century and a half later(Murphy 1). The prison is no longer functioning, but it still manages to lure people in, not by breaking the law, but by its historical significance. The prison is unique in design and the impact it has had not just in Yuma, but in Arizona as a whole. The Yuma Territorial Prison today, as a museum, allows people to examine the design of the prison and how it reflects the time and place it was built, the negative effects the prison has caused
Some inmates called it the “ snake den “ maybe because a prisoner got bitten by a snake while in there ( Murphy 1999 ). The dark cell which was a room that was fifteen feet by fifteen feet and contained an iron cage, the only source of light they had came from a small vent in the ceiling that is a reason why it was nicknamed the dark cell. Contact with any other inmates while in the dark cell was forbidden. The longest someone spent in the “ dark cell “ was one hundred and twenty days, the inmate never spent a day in there again! Furthermore while in the cell, they were only given bread and water once a day.
