(Alcohol Action Ireland)
(B)
• Alcohol Action Ireland is not an ‘anti-alcohol’ charity. Its aim is to prevent the harm that regularly results after alcohol consumption, to the person themselves and to those around them i.e. children, family, businesses and communities as a whole.
• This organisation aims to encourage citizens to be aware of the alcohol related harm occurring in society, and to challenge this issue. (Eurocare)
To achieve this they provide information on alcohol related issues in order to create awareness, and creating policies intended to reduce the alcohol related harm.
• They take a public health approach in dealing with alcohol related harm. This approach consists of gathering relevant information, conducting research, developing interventions and implementing these interventions. (World Health Organisation)

This bill details measures to reduce alcohol consumption and, in turn, alcohol related harm. These measures include the health labelling of alcohol, regulation in regards to the marketing and advertising of alcohol, the introduction of minimum unit pricing for alcohol, and regulation of the involvement of alcoholic products used in sports sponsorship. The current alcohol laws both statewide and nationwide, prove unsuccessful and a more efficient way to handle the situation is to educate teens about alcohol to influence them to make wise
To the Maine Legislature: Our state has been overrun by the working class drunkards in our community. They live their lives consumed by the need to consume alcohol; and I call to you today to consider the needs and well-being of our citizens and our state. I address the legislature on this day of June 25, 1846, to argue my support for the prohibitionist law against liquor licensing. With no laws or regulations in place to prohibit the purchase or consumption of alcohol, I have come to wholeheartedly believe that our society is facing disastrous consequences unless we stop the rampage of alcohol and its ability to flow freely through the streets of Main.
Today in the United States about 4,358 people under the age of 21 years old die each year from alcohol-related car crashes, homicides, suicides, alcohol poisoning, and other injuries such as falls, burns, and even drowning. More than 190,000 people under the age of 21 visited an emergency room for alcohol related reasons in 2008 alone. Alcohol related motor vehicle crashes kill someone every 31 minutes and non-fatally injure someone every two minutes. That’s a lot of people gone because they wanted to go out and party and not think about the consequences ahead. In this essay I’m gonna give you information to why Underage Drinking is very very bad for you.
Every year 88,000 deaths are attributed to excessive alcohol use or alcohol related events; alcoholism is the third leading lifestyle related cause of death in the United States (“Facts About Alcohol”). During the early twentieth century, there were many overlying problems that the United States government, or braches of the government, had to deal with. The United States government had to deal with problems such as child labor, alcohol, women wanting rights, corruption, and then reform. These were some of the major issues in which people in government positions had to deal with and find a solution for. Faced with the problem of an increase in the number of people incarcerated and overcrowded prisons as well as an increase in domestic abuse and criminal activity, the Judiciary Committee in the House of Representatives chose to ratify the
My research showed that there was a correlation between poverty level and alcohol abuse, as stated in the report Understanding the relationship between poverty and alcohol misuse. (Jones & Sumnall, 2016). Community Health Nurses (CHN) can provide recommendations and implement programs that will meet the needs of the community. One of the most effective tools is education, utilizing media with a focus on prevention and treatment will help with this growing problem of alcohol abuse. Also, by emphasizing the roles of families, friends, businesses, faith, and communities in helping with the health-related issue will help with a positive outcome.
However, there is still work needing to be done to help improve the current system. One of the key items needing to be added is education. Schools, as well as parents, are not educating young students about the dangers of alcohol. If education of these dangers is increased, students will have a better understanding of what they are getting into when they do drink. This will help decrease the abuse of alcohol at an early age, and teach responsibility when they do drink to keep themselves and everyone around them
A higher Minimum Legal Drinking Age (MLDA) is effective in preventing alcohol-related deaths and injuries among teenagers and youth. When the MLDA has been lowered, injury and death rates increase, and when the MLDA is increased, death and injury rates decline (Wagenaar, 1993). In addition, a common argument among opponents of a higher MLDA is that because many minors still drink and purchase alcohol, the policy isn't working on minors. The evidence shows, however, that although many youth still consume alcohol, they still drink less and experience fewer alcohol-related injuries and deaths (Wagenaar, 1993). There is also an argument comparing the European alcohol and drunk diving among the youth compared to the United
Would the decriminalisation and / Legalisation of controlled substances improve or hinder the economic, health and social circumstances of drugs users, their families, communities and society? This essay will briefly outline the current policies on drugs in Ireland and will examine the policies and substance misuse from a European and international perspective; then it will discuss how decriminalisation of drugs and substances can improve or hinder the economic, health and social circumstances of drug users, their families, communities and society in general. Examples of controlled substances in Ireland include cocaine, heroin, methadone, cannabis (full list of controlled substances found in the schedule Misuse of Drugs Act 1977).
A poll taken on July 2014 asked the public opinion of US adults for lowering the US legal drinking age from 21 to 18. Approximately 74% of the people opposed the idea, whereas roughly 25% of the people supported the idea ("Public Opinion" 1). The statistics indicate satisfaction among the majority of the people; however, with the current laws many issues arise that must be addressed concerning alcohol use. For starters, studies show an increase of dangerous drinking habits among young adults (Hall 2). In addition, the enforcement of the drinking laws and education on alcohol is insubstantial (Moyse, Fonder 3).
By the time they are high school seniors, seventy-two percent teenagers say they have already consumed alcohol. Proper education at younger ages is needed for our country’s youth to learn the proper use of alcohol through experimentation with their own limits in safe environments.
Underage drinking is a noteworthy issue at American schools, however little is thought about the degree of liquor use in various arrangements. Across countries, Teenage drinking has been a common problem of this modern world. Underage drinking can offer a diverse effects for us Teenagers, especially accidents which include car accidents, homicides, suicides, falls and burns. Research shows that legal drinkers can handle their self well compared to an immature Teenage drinker due to a lot of reasons both mentally and physiologically. Underage drinkers suffer a wide variety of consequences due to their uncontrolled drinking habit.
In today’s modern age alcohol has become a way of life, it is evident that the majority of the countries throughout the world accept alcohol as an antidepressant that can be fun and can take the edge off activities, many people die from it each year. Consequently, these deaths are only one of the many reasons why alcohol should be banned. As a result, Alcohol can cause cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic lung disease and diabetes in moderate drinkers. Not only does drinking have a negative effect on your body if too much is consumed on occasions it can also lead to deadly accidents from being impaired while driving.
