The Alexander Archipelago was named by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey in 1867 to honor Alexander II, Tsar of Russia. It is a group of about 1,100 islands (actually the tops of a submerged section of the Coast Ranges) off the coast of southeastern Alaska. The Alexander Archipelago is lapped by Pacific waves and washed by coastal rains. When the glaciers retreated from the North Pacific Coast ten thousand years ago, the level of the sea dropped, exposing a maze of islands separated by wide straits and narrow passages. The archipelago a world unto itself, separated from the rest of the North American Continent. To the east it is flanked by ragged, perennially snow-capped Coastal Mountains. These are the mountains that the people of the Northwest call Cascadia. …show more content…
Deep, fjord-like channels separate the islands and cut them off from the mainland. All the islands are rugged, densely forested, and have an abundance of wildlife. The Tlingit are native to the area. The archipelago is sparsely inhabited and often obscured by fog, with its mountains sheared off by low lying clouds. The Alexander Archipelago is a coastal temperate rain forest. It draws nourishment from the cycling of water between land and sea. Pacific weather fronts bumping up against the Coast Mountains spend themselves as rain at lower elevations and as snow in the high country. Some parts of the forest receive more than 200 inches of rain each year. The forest that grew up on these islands is a mosaic of muskeg, alpine scrub and lichen-draped conifer rainforest. It is dominated by x Gustav Tjgaard western hemlock, interspersed with Sitka spruce and small amounts of western red cedar and prized Alaska yellow cedar. The forest floor is a nearly impenetrable jumble of toppled trees, spiky Devil’s club and densely matted berries and forbs. Until the 1970s, scientists spent little time studying the temperate rain forest. The world’s attention was focused on

World War II’s Battle for Kiska was a prime example of Japan’s strategy for attacking the United States during the War In The Pacific. Kiska Island is a part of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands, located in the Pacific Ocean. Japan attempted to invade the Aleutian Islands, so that they could get closer to the west coast of North America. The Japanese struck first on June 6, 1942, when they took control of the islands, Attu and Kiska. Kiska and Attu were the only U.S soil that Japan claimed during the War In The Pacific.
The Arsenal Island has always been a center point for trade or military. Rock Island was the Native American’s natural fortress in time of war. This is where all of the children and women went if there was a battle nearby. There are far far better things ahead than anything we leave behind. In 1802 I was told to set off on a journey west. To find the Northwest Passage. You will now hear my encounters and just imagine my journey. Now Luxuriant Bear grass was just one of the plants I discovered on my journey.

The difference in age of upslope and downslope forest cannot be determined by the sizes of older hardwood trees or the proportion of mature hardwood to pine trees as the data is insignificant and does not support the hypothesis. Introduction Forests within the same region
Winters generally have few extended periods of continuous freezing temperatures and relatively few periods of snow fall. The forest free season is approximately 200 days long. Rainfall is moderate, averaging four to five inches per month. March and December are the wettest months, while June, August, October, and November are the driest months on average. Heavy rainfall of over seven or eight inches occasionally fall in one month, resulting in excessive soil erosion at fields that are left exposed.
Brom Island Brom 's Island is based off entirely off of my own dreams, ideas and visions of reality of my day to day life. This island is an existing planet far beyond space and time. I will give a brief summary a little about my island; It started in 2014 around October when I was having more vivid dreams. I was able to control them better then I have during my 18 years living on this earth.
