Alexander the great is a hero because he was a strong military leader and he treated everybody with respect.
Alexander the great was a hero because he was a strong military leader. If a military group/troop did not have a strong military leader then they wouldn't do as well as they possibly could. According to Alexander the not-so-great, “Once he made up his mind to conquer a territory, Alexander the Great was unstoppable. He was a brilliant general: courageous in battle, firm in command of his troops, and ingenious as a military tactician. The scope of his success, and the speed with which he extended his realm, is astounding” (The John maxwell company para 1) This proves Alexander the great is a hero because it states that he was a brilliant

If a community did not have a leader who cared about each and everyone of their citizens, then they wouldn’t have a strong community. “According to Alexander at the Temple of Zeus-Ammon an elderly man, came to Alexander and said, “Rejoice, son: take this form of address as from god also.” He replied, “I accept, father; for the future I Shall be called thy son. But tell me if thou givest me the rule of the whole earth” (para 2). This proves Alexander the great is a hero during his time because it states that he acknowledging what the priest has to say and that he cares. Having a leader who cared about you and treated you like everyone else would've been great. Alexander chose to help and improve others, rather than himself. According to Lined with gold, “In large-heartedness, Alexander always looked to set an example to others. After defeating the Persian king Darius in the Battle of Issus, Alexander got hold of a lot of Darius’ wealth and his family including his mother, wife, and daughters. Alexander treated Darius” (para 8). This proves Alexander the great is a hero because he was a religious, helpful, and generous leader. Everybody makes mistakes and Alexander is just a person who made only a couple bad decisions. Having Alexander as a leader would be great especially during wars, because when he made commands you would be able to trust him and agree with what he was deciding to
In addition, in the Legend of the Hat Band, he rewarded an innocent person who had done a service to him by killing him, showing that he relied so much on the legends that he was willing to kill a loyal soldier because it was thought that he might be a threat. He cared so much about legends that he was willing to sacrifice one of his own men. This does not seem like the act of someone ethical or wise as a great leader should be. A third reason that Alexander should not be considered great is that he used brutal methods to conquer land.
Alexander’s military brilliance was unquestionable. He was a leader invincible in both, siege warfare and set battles. In addition to that, his intelligence and communications skills were immaculate. The Roman historian Arrian, in his account Alexander Puts Down a Mutiny, explains Alexander’s ability of communication and leadership skills, “[M]arching out from a country too poor to maintain you decently, [I] laid open for you at a blow, and in spite of Persia’s naval supremacy, the gates of the Hellespont. My cavalry crushed the satraps of Darius, and I added all Ionia and Aeolia, the two Phrygias and Lydia to your empire….
Alexander would have been a hero would he have lived twice his age. Plutarch notes that Alexander tamed Bucephalus a horse that Philoneicus gave his father as a present by and thought it was wild and untameable. Ideally, the single act indicated that Alexander had the skill of handling issues that most people think cannot be contained and this would have made him a hero (Source 1). Quintus indicates that the talk between Darius III and an Athenian exile indicates how magnificent the Macedonian army was under Alexander the Great.
Despite Alexander not being politically great, society remembers him as great because of his military prowess
Without their trust, Alexander would not have achieved as much as he did. These examples show that Alexander was great because they provided insight into what Alexander achieved. He had to work hard to gain the people’s trust. It all paid off when he was able to say that he was the greatest leader of his time. Today, everyone wants a trustworthy leader.

He was not great because he didn’t show concern for others, leadership, or intelligence. Alexander the Great was not the best because of his mass amounts of murder, not much care for his soldiers, and his poor ability to lead. The first reason Alexander the Great is not amazing because of the mass amount of murder he committed. One example is during the battle at Tyre, once Alexander’s army broke into the city they went on a ferocious killing spree (Doc C). Alexander had ordered anyone that was not inside the temple to be slain and he killed seven thousand Tyrians.
Alexander the Great is one of the most famous people in our world’s history. He achieved great challenges no other man could do. Alexander himself said, “There is nothing impossible to him who will try.” His achievments prove this quote without a doubt. Alexander of Macedon was born in 356 BCE to King Philip and his wife Olympia.
Alexander was fearless of what other leaders could have done to him and his men, he was so fearless he even stood on the front line with his men, unlike today when the leaders sit back in safe zones while their men die for their

Glorious men have graced the earth and have left significant impressions on the following generations. Alexander the Great suits that profile like none other. As arguably one of the most influential military leaders in history, Alexander conquered the majority of the known world, including large-scale empires such as the Persian. Succeeding his father, Philip II, to the throne at the age of 20, Alexander commanded an already skilled military, which he schooled further in the beginning of his reign. Even militarily significant empires had no chance against Alexander 's military brilliance and so he constructed one of the largest empires in history.
A hero does not fight for fame and glory but for the greater good. A hero is someone who goes through adversity to help others in desperate times. A hero fights evil, and defends people. Beowulf should be considered a hero because he is a strong, brave warrior who defended his people and slayed evil monsters. Beowulf proves himself to be a strong, brave warrior by killing Grendel the monster.
