He exemplified the ways of both a hero and a villain. However, it is my opinion that he is a villain. I believe this because he could be an extremely violent leader and because he never fully reigned over one of the places he conquered/ruled. He is a villain because he murdered thousands of people and soldiers from different nations. Alexander tortured many of his victims and then he killed them.

Beowulf encounters three monsters that make him the epic hero that he is. In the beginning of the story he faces Grendel a descendant of Cain, the father of all demons. Grendel has all the characteristics of a monster, but he also shows many qualities of a human. The reason for his terror is his loneliness, jealousy, and being an outcast. For Beowulf, the news of Grendel is hard to ignore, so he comes to Heorot to kill Grendel.

In the play everyone finds out that that Macbeth killed Duncan and the others, Macduff brings an army to attack Macbeth at his castle. Macbeth and Macduff starts to fight and his punishment was that he got his head chopped off. Everyone started to say “here comes newer comfort”(5.8.53). This shows his punishment because he got killed for his actions. He killed multiple people and thought that he would get by with it.
