Noel 1 Jack noel Mrs.McKenna Period 4 03/09/23 Alexander the Great, a king of Macedonia, transformed war tactics that allowed him to become one of the greatest conquerers in history. Alexander the Great led an amazing army with lots of soldiers,guns,and other guns that made him a great military leader. Alexander the Great was born in July 356 bc and died in June 323 bc. Alexander the Great proved to be a great leader by improving the fine army passed down from his father Philip. Alexander the Great strengthened the cavalry arm, ultilized weapons specialists, and employed a corps of engineers, he was untouchable in siege warfare and set battles. Alexander was also very smart in many ways and he showed that by his use of the phalanx and cavalry,combined with an inmate sense of command, he put his enemy on the defensive side,enabling him to never lose battle. …show more content…

He took his Macedonian empire past the boundaries as Far East of Taxila in modern-day Pakistan. Alexander the greats army spanned over 40,000 troops. Alexanders men were on foot and heavily armed with spears and they formed a phalanx, advancing and getting better behind raised shields. Alexander the Great was very significant in many ways. First, his father was able to unite the Greek city-states, and Alexander destroyed the Persian empire forever. More importantly, alexander the greats journey spreaded Greek culture “also known as Hellenism” across his empire.
