Alfred Russel Wallace made great advancements in the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection. Wallace also was a naturalist, evolutionist, geographer, anthropologist, and a social critic and theorist. Alfred Russel Wallace was from a large family of nine children. Wallace worked with Charles Darwin on the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection. Alfred Russel Wallace was born on January 8, 1823. Wallace was born in the town of Usk, Wales. Alfred Russel Wallace was born to Thomas Vere Wallace and Mary Anna Greenell (Biography & Contributions). Wallace was the eighth of the nine children. Wallace had a relatively good childhood but became difficult with a lack of money. Alfred Russel Wallace wrote more than 1000 articles and 22 books in his lifetime. In the spring of 1866, Wallace married Annie Mitten (Biography Wallace). Alfred Russel Wallace and Annie had three children named Violet, William, and Herbert. Wallace died in his sleep on November 7 1913, in the town of Broadstone.
