In 2001, 19 militants associated with al-Qaeda planned and staged the September 11th attacks in New York City. Prior to the September 11th attacks, the group had been linked to several more attacks including attacks in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Algeria, Israel, the United Kingdom, and many more places. Malcom X’s assassination is a perfect example of backstabbing. Malcom X was a civil rights leader for the nation of Islam. The assassination of Malcom x was justified because members of the nation of Islam saw Malcom as a threat after his departure and many thought Malcom X’s way of protest was dangerous and put many lives in danger. However Malcom was a man who fought for blacks to be the superior race “at any means necessary.”
This past Sunday, June 18th, America lost muslim teen, Nabra Hassanen to what most call road rage, and others, a hate crime. Hassanen, accompanied by a group of friends were headed back to a local mosque after a trip to a fast-food restaurant. It was then that they encountered driver Darwin Martinez Torres and an argument erupted. The altercation escalated, resulting in the capturing and death of 17 year old Hassanen. Torres had beaten her with a baseball bat, abducted her, and dumped her body into a lake.
Evil Everywhere With all of the violence in the past, and now the most recent shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, society is more scared than ever. Dylann Roof, proven to be a white supremacist, walked into a church in Charleston, South Carolina and killed innocent people. This incident hit home for so many Americans because not only did the innocent people die, but it was in one of the safest places imaginable, a church (Tauber, Michelle). Many believe that weapons are to blame for this, and others believe that racism is the main focal point.
On June 12 2016, in Orlando, gunman Omar Mateen killed and injured many innocent gay people inside the gay nightclub, Pulse. The attack happened at 2:00am, while 320 people were enjoying their Saturday night. Unfortunately, 49 people were killed and 53 people were injured. However a few managed to escape the hostage and attack.
