Allan Pinkerton Allan Pinkerton was a spy. He was described as a spy that "never slept". While he was working as Abraham Lincolns best spy during the Civil War, he also had ahis own company that he had to run. The 'Private Eyes '. During the times that he lived there was slavery and many plots to kill Lincoln. He had to take matters into his own hands to save Lincolns life multiple times as the Unions 'Secret Service ' in 1861. But as soon as he moved back to Scotland Lincoln had been assassinated. In my paper you will learn how Allan Pinkerton lived, learned, and how he did what he did. Allan Pinkerton was born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 25, 1819. Allan Pinkerton was extremely smart. But he left school at the age of ten because of his fathers death. Allan had ten kids from his two wives. two of which died at fourteen and ten. He was also the first one in the U.S. that opened a detective agency. He was also the only one in his family to do something like that. Something interesting that happened to him was when he was working as a barrel maker he came across two counterfeiters that were trying to steal stuff. Not to mention the fact that two of his sons died and not being able to capture John Wilkes Booth after he made a terrible mistake for shooting one of the country leaders in the war. John had the whole Union army after him and might 've been shot in the neck but other stories say otherwise. In the end John died and paid for his dear mistake. Allan influenced other police in the later times after the war. They started to open more and more police and detective agency 's after that. This helped the country a lot. Allan did this in the year about 1884. It looks like people said things about Allan but nothing was recorded, so we don’t know what people said about him.
