Allelopathic influence of Hieracium Pilosella on the germination and seedling development of Sinapis Alba
Background information: In the year 1937, a german botanist named Hans Molisch published a book named “The Influence of One Plant on Another: Allelopathy”, in which according to his description of allelopathy, it is the “result of biochemical reactions between plants”.
In the year 1984, professor Elroy Leon Rice defined allelopathy as following: “It is the mutual interaction of plants through a variety of chemical compounds secreted by living organisms or release during the decomposition of plant remains”
Referring to the above definition, it must be understood that nowadays, this term is understood as a definition for any direct or indirect, inhibitory or stimulating effect of

Conclusion:
The above experiment shows us that the extract from H. Pilosella resulted in an inhibitory effect on the germination of S. Alba, and in the concentration of 5% completely halted the germination. In addition to that, if the plant had already germinated, the H. Pilosella extract halted its overall development as the length of the stem and root was significantly smaller with the increase in concentration.
If we compare the above observation with the earlier definition of allelopathy (“It is the mutual interaction of plants through a variety of chemical compounds secreted by living organisms or release during the decomposition of plant remains”), we can state that there are certain allelochemicals within the H. Pilosella extract, which cause an inhibitory effect on the S. Alba, and in this case we most certainly have an allelopathic case.
As a result, plants have adapted ways to protect themselves against their natural predators by implementing “defense mechanisms”. Such adaptations may be structural or chemical, where structural mechanisms are simply parts of plant structural arrangement, such as thorns. Chemical defense mechanisms are more complex, and involve production of retarding chemical compounds and toxins. These volatile compounds are often released when the plant is damaged, and have physical effects on the predator.
Unit 2 Assignment: Diagnostic Writer’s Response Whether it is a little or a lot, everyone experiences stress at some point. Stress does not always have a negative effect, most of the time the effects can be positive. On the other hand stress is associated with the development of most major mental health problems such as depression, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and pathological aging (Marin, 2011). It has also been linked to all leading physical causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke (Cohen, Janicki-Deverts, & Miller, 2007).
In this experiment, we observed the relationship between the number of domatia, the number of mites and the size of leaves of water oaks (Quercus nigra L.) and sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua). Domatia are small chambers often located on the lower surface of leaves that serve as homes for predaceous mites. In return, the mites protect the plant from herbivory and pathogen attack. This type of interaction between plants and mites is a form of mutualism, more specifically facultative mutualism. Mutualism is an interaction between individuals of different species in which both species benefit.
Diagnostic Essay Prompt In an article called “Upstream, Downstream” written by Jenna Craig, she expresses concerns over the amount of water that Texas currently has and how it should be distributed. “Since 2007, Texas has been experiencing one of the worst droughts in history,” since that drought happened the amount of water in Texas has greatly been diminished and it has affected many farmers, citizens, fisherman, etc. Since the water was so scarce during the dry times the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is allowed to distribute water from agricultural to the environment. The drought has continued since then and Karen Bondy, senior vice president for water resources at (LCRA), states that, “Central Texas is now in the seventh year
This Assignment will focus on a critical review on a serious case review. It will focus on Daniel Pelka a four year old who was murdered by his mother and her partner in 2012. The assignment will demonstrate an understanding of the impact of abuse on children and young people but also look at critically examining and analysing the roles of different professionals within the process of safeguarding children and young people. Definitions will be given firstly of terminology that this assignment will use to help understand the subject matter.

Anthropologists throughout the history of the discipline have utilized race as a mode of inquiry. In early anthropology, racial and ethnic differences became the focal point of anthropological studies due to a perceived inherent or biological dissimilarity between people of separate races. In turn, these interpretations of racial difference were used to justify and explain systemic racialized institutions and practices such as Orientalism, colonialism, and imperialism. The aftereffects of anthropology’s preoccupation with race are still apparent even today as many contemporary anthropological studies examine people of color living in the Global South.
I wrote about Misty Copeland, a professional dancer who broke many stereotypical molds in the ballet world. I described how Misty Copeland experienced hardships that inspired her to accomplish feats that make her the hero that she is today. This is an example of a cause-and-effect essay. I decided to write about this topic because I have always loved Misty Copeland’s story, and I felt that it fit the assignment perfectly. Originally, I made some grammatical mistakes and left out some details, but I was able to revise them.
The interactive content on the web site page Unnatural Causes—Accumulating Advantage really showed how race and class discrimination can impact the health of minorities. The exercise was able to show the disadvantage of being the minority population that some may not realize. Racial discrimination whether at school, shopping or owning your own home can contribute to stress in the minority population which can lead to other health concerns. Higher blood pressure due to stress can cause negative coping behaviors also that can cause health problems such as smoking, overeating, substance abuse and violence.
However, after investigation through gel electrophoresis, the three kinds of plants were not identical. This relates to the

A Sociocultural Context: Factors in Pharmacology & Epidemiology The quickly advancing area of Culture, health and illness is continuously expanding with newly introduced practices, beliefs, ideologies, and research from different cultures extending across the world. As the sociocultural factors in health and illness become more emphasized and discussed, concepts in health will transform and shift into an outlook that allows social, cultural, psychological, and biological factors to play a critical role in understanding these important thoughts. The main concepts examined and analyzed throughout the textbook for this week are cultural factors in pharmacology and epidemiology. In chapter eight, Helman(2007) thoroughly discusses and the different
Introduction: In this task I will be researching the effect that acid rain has on the rate of plant growth. Acid rain is any type of precipitation with a high pH, with high levels of nitric acids. The reason why I had chosen this topic was because acid rain seems to have a great effect on the effect of plant growth, and plants play a very important role in our ecosystem. Acid rain is a major problem in our environment when we are not able to neutralize the acidity.
Introduction Plants are a major necessity in the balance of nature, people’s lives, and our terrain. We may not realize it, but plants are the ultimate source of food for almost 95% of the world population so says the National Group of Food. It’s a fact that over 7,000 species of plants are being consumed today. Plants are one of the reasons that we get clean water; as they help regulate the water cycle.
