Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) INTRODUCTION: Amazon Simple Storage Service is storage for the Internet. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers. Amazon S3 has a simple web services interface that you can use to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. It gives any developer access to the same highly scalable, reliable, fast, inexpensive data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites. Advantages to Amazon S3 Amazon S3 is intentionally built with a minimal feature set that focuses on simplicity and robustness. Following are some of advantages of the Amazon S3 service • Create Buckets – Create and name a bucket that stores data. Buckets …show more content…
Amazon S3 Concepts Buckets A bucket is a container for objects stored in Amazon S3. Every object is contained in a bucket. For example, if the object named photos/puppy.jpg is stored in the johnsmith bucket, then it is addressable using the URL http://johnsmith.s3.amazonaws.com/photos/puppy.jpg Buckets serve several purposes: they organize the Amazon S3 namespace at the highest level, they identify the account responsible for storage and data transfer charges, they play a role in access control, and they serve as the unit of aggregation for usage reporting. You can configure buckets so that they are created in a specific region. For more information, see Buckets and Regions. You can also configure a bucket so that every time an object is added to it, Amazon S3 generates a unique version ID and assigns it to the object. For more information, see Versioning. For more information about buckets, see Working with Amazon S3 Buckets. …show more content…
Objects consist of object data and metadata. The data portion is opaque to Amazon S3. The metadata is a set of name-value pairs that describe the object. These include some default metadata, such as the date last modified, and standard HTTP metadata, such as Content-Type. You can also specify custom metadata at the time the object is stored. Keys A key is the unique identifier for an object within a bucket. Every object in a bucket has exactly one key. Because the combination of a bucket, key, and version ID uniquely identify each object, Amazon S3 can be thought of as a basic data map between "bucket + key + version" and the object itself. Every object in Amazon S3 can be uniquely addressed through the combination of the web service endpoint, bucket name, key, and optionally, a version. For example, in the URL http://doc.s3.amazonaws.com/2006-03-01/AmazonS3.wsdl, "doc" is the name of the bucket and "2006-03-01/AmazonS3.wsdl" is the
Names should reflect what the object does. I could use a prefix of what the object is or what it does to make the object name stand out from one another. For example I have 2 cylinders with different textures a camera and a box, the cylinders would be barrels so I would use the prefix “brl” (brl= barrel) then a value or texture name, a prefix for camera would be “cam” (cam= camera) and for box it could be “crt” (crt= crate). I could have used other names the purpose of naming varies from person to person and what is being created. 1.6.
This provides a means of communication that can help different vendors packages to communicate and manages the message transfers from clients to servers. 2.10. Compare and contrast the three cloud computing models. Three cloud computing models • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): IaaS contains basic building blocks for cloud infrastructure and provides access to networking features, computers and data storage.

distribution, hence the task data size will be assumed to follow an exponential distribution with mean $\lambda$. The task that the users have to perform is assumed to $M=k\lambda$ cycles of Cpu cycles. The Cpu capacity of each user device is $c_u$. Additionaly, each cloudlet has $c_b$ of Cpu capacity to serve serve user's offloading requests.
S-CSP: Storage provider is nothing but kind of an entity which makes available storage services of data inside a public cloud. S-CSP offers outsourcing data services and then it stores that data in support of a users of the data. To trim down the cost of storage, the Service Providers eradicates the storing of an unneeded data by using Deduplication technique or methods whereas it also maintains only distinctive form of data rather keeping all the files having similar content. Users:
7.7.1 Data Owners 1. One whose going to access files, one who owns file, who requires his data to be secure. 2. Data owners are responsible for encrypting the data by generating private key. MMCOE, Department of Computer Engineering, 2015-2016 26 Regeneration of code based cloud storage 3.
Servers being used Database Server – CouchDB is a database that completely embraces the web. Store your data with JSON documents. Access your documents with your web browser, via HTTP. Query, combine, and transform your documents with JavaScript. CouchDB works well with modern web and mobile apps.
Storage devices are one of the important components of any computing device. They store virtually all the information and applications on a computer, except hardware things. They are available in different form factors depending on the type of underlying device. For example, a standard computer has multiple storage devices including RAM, cache, a hard disk, an optical disk drive and externally connected USB drives. There are two different types of storage devices: • Primary Storage Devices: Generally smaller in size, are designed to hold data temporarily and are internal to the computer.
Thanks to its flash storage which uses solid state technology, which means there are no moving parts. Without any moving mechanical parts, flash storage is more reliable, durable and quiet than traditional hard drives. And, it takes up much less space than a traditional hard drive too. That creates room
Prevalent storage choices include the S3 (Amazon Simple Storage Service), EBS (Elastic Block Store) and Amazon CloudFront. Amazon Simple Storage Service offers Web Service based storage and it is a totally redundant storage offering that can process any amount of data at anytime and anywhere on the Web. It can be used for backup, record and calamity recovery, and content storage, allocation and data analysis storage. S3 is current as part of the free Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) tier service for 5GB of storage, 20,000 Get Needs or 5,000 Put Needs per month.
Sqoop: A project for transferring/importing data between relational databases and Hadoop. Oozie: An orchestration and work flow management for dependent Hadoop jobs. Figure 2 gives an overview of the Big Data analysis tools which are used for efficient and precise data analysis and management jobs. The Big Data Analysis and management setup can be understood through the layered structured defined in the figure. The data storage part is dominated by the HDFS distributed file system architecture and other architectures available are Amazon Web Service, HBase and Cloud Store etc.
Additionally, risks associated with outage or lock-in of a single CSP are reduced. This provides a high level of availability and reliability for the service. Observation_2: CSUs can use different types of devices, for example, a laptop or a mobile device to access the storage service. A CSP uses notification servers to synchronise the CSUs’ files between the devices. Observation_3: As seen in the model, each CSP uses a database server to store and manage metadata.
Amazon is no exception. Amazon uses big data services to analyze consumer trends, marketing strategies, planning the development of new products, and other insights related to marketing their products and offerings.
Today, many people prefer to order products from Amazon instead of going to stores or malls. c. DESCRIPTION OF MY SUBJECT (AMAZON.COM): Amazon (Amazon.com) is the world’s largest online retailer and a prominent cloud services provider. The company was initially a book seller, then later it expanded to sell a wide variety of consumer goods and digital media as well as its own electronic devices, such as the Kindle e-book reader, Kindle Fire tablet and Fire TV, a streaming media adapter (Rouse, 2018).
Relational Database Management System: This type of database management system that stores the data in the form of related tables. It is a social database administrator which deals with some typical kind of queries and uses SQL for the development of the database. This type of database is a very powerful database as it deals with the relations which makes the data manipulations easier other than any other database. It has the features of data entry, data deletion, and creating of new entry and records etc. the database provides the ease of accessing and maintaining data easily.
