How many of you have family that has worked in the armed forces? Or how many people have friends that live in third world or poor countries? On December 25, 1821, a tiny Christmas baby, who would become one of the greatest civil war heroines ever, was born into a loving middle class family. Clara Barton had four older siblings that adored her and taught her many life skills that would be crucial for her later career. She helped women accomplish things that were thought to be impossible just years before. “As a pioneer for women into a field dominated by men, she has become a role model for young women everywhere” (newworldencyclopedia.org). Even though there was a mystery surrounding Amelia Earhart, there was no doubt that she was courageous. Amelia has many accomplishments here are some of her accomplishments. Intelligence, hard working, and fighter are three characteristics of Katherine Johnson. Many people know that Katherine Johnson was a huge help in the space race that sent John Glenn to space, but she was so much more. As a well known NASA mathematician, Katherine Johnson showed America that African-American women could do the same as men could. She left a lasting legacy by helping other people that African-American women could be just like a man and have the same job as them.

She set numerous records, inspired many people, and was the first woman to attempt to fly around the world. Amelia Earhart was an American pilot and author. She did what no other woman had ever done before, attempted to fly around the world. Amelia set many different records, and demonstrated that women can do anything. It was her intellectual mind and point of view that made her different from others, both black and white. Phyllis’s story broke the barrier for all African American writers, and proved that no matter the gender or race, all human beings are capable of having an intelligent state of mind. In the past, Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Indeed this is true. With determination, the shy, fearful girl with a tough childhood chose her own path in life and got to where she was known today, as a heroic person who did extraordinary, positive deeds for humanity. A real hero is someone who shows courage, selflessness, willingness, as well as empathy to others by his or her actions. Proving to people that women can handle many difficult tasks, supporting human rights, along with turning the role of first lady into more than just greeting guests at the White House has definitely shown that Eleanor Roosevelt is truly an influential hero in U.S History.

Passage 2 is more of facts about her and Susan rather than how they contributed. They both tell a lot about how Elizabeth helped women’s rights. Also in passage 2 it talks about about Elizabeth had help from Susan B Anthony. So passage 1 defiantly was better at showing how Elizabeth contributed to women’s rights.

Mary Ann Hopkins came from a suburbs of Boston, where she attended private school with her little sister. Whenever they go on family trip, they go for adventure and explore. She was always curious about the world ever since she was a little girl. She was a smart girl and like to learn new things. As a result, she taught herself how to knit, crochet, and sew.
