Honestly, no I do not believe that the confederate battle flag is a symbol of racism or hatred. Personally I believe that anyone who thinks that the confederate flag is “racist” seriously needs a history lesson. In discussion of country’s ideal, a controversial issue has been if kneeling during the national anthem is disrespectful or not. On the one hand, many argue that they are expressing their first amendment rights. On the other hand, many people believe it’s disrespecting our nation 's ideals and the people who fight for our freedom. My own view is that it is not disrespecting the country’s ideals if the country is not living up to the ideals itself. While people believe kneeling during the National Anthem is disrespecting the country 's ideals, I believe kneeling during the National Anthem is not disrespectful. The United States is not living up to its ideals of freedom, liberty, and justice for all no matter their race. Athletes are bringing awareness by a peaceful protest, which is protected under the first amendment for those who are oppressed.

Imagine you're walking down the street and you see someone taking the one thing you have worked for and they were burning it right in front of you. Would you be angry? Soldiers, who protect us and risk their lives for ours, feel that way. The soldiers represent the flag and they fight to get it in the air, just to watch someone use their rights to freedom of speech and burn it. Flag burning should be illegal because adults make any changes because of the existing laws, children see the negativity of the act, and is disrespectful toward the soldiers who represent the flag.

As of now you are the future president of The United States of America. With that title comes the responsibilities such as controlling foreign affairs, economic issues, and upholding civil rights. With all that said, you can see why it took many by surprise when you used “Twitter” as a means of spreading the message that in a situation where the burning of the American flag takes place, consequences like being jailed for one year and being striped of citizenship should be inforced. Although having pride in one’s nation is important, the act of flag burning should not be punishable; therefore, flag burning should be respected as a form of free expression.

The American flag has been an important part of our nation, it has been around for over Two hundred years and in that time the flag has evolved physically and symbolically. The flag has inspired many songs, poems, books, art, and so much more. To an American citizen the flag symbolizes freedom, patriotism, national independence and popular sovereignty. However, I am not an American citizen, this means that the American flag has far greater meaning to me as someone who strives in someday becoming one in the process of accomplishing the goals I set for myself.

Being entitled to your own opinion is not wrong in itself, but once things are brought out of proportion it can harm others physically or emotionally. Learning the background of the Confederate flag can help some realize its true meaning and prevent more controversy.

Although the first amendment guarantee’s freedom of speech, the guarantee is not absolute. There should be an expectation to the first amendment. Another aspect of freedom of speech is expressive conduct (such as flag burning). The supreme court has grappled with whether laws banning expressive conduct are permissible under the first amendment. This court is in favor of Texas because, is it not right to burn a flag, with military people died to protect our flag, it is a symbol of freedom, and it will cause more problems in the world.

The American Flag should be protected from desecration because it is a symbol of what this country has fought for, what we continue to fight for, and how amazing of a country the United States really is. I am very much against desecration of the American flag because it disrespects something that means so much to me and so many other people in this country. The Supreme Court has looked over many cases, all making drastic life changes and some making no difference in the world. The case Texas vs. Johnson uproared so many political arguments, amendment arguments, and even country disputes. This case was and is still important because it brought up the basis of the government's beliefs against an individual beliefs. The Supreme Court did rule in favor of Johnson, but it disgusted them, and they did not believe it was okay. The main reason why the government and many military personales found it offensive ws because it found a different way to speech out against the nation.

Ronald Reagan once said, “When we honor our flag we honor what we stand for as a Nation - freedom, equality, justice, and hope.” The Texas v. Johnson case is a vast problem that seems to be overpowering in today’s society. Since the case began there have been flag burnings all over the country, and no one seems to be concerned since people are not getting disciplined. People should not be burning the flag that so many people fight and lost their lives for. The burning of the American flag should not be protected by the First Amendment.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color” (Kaepernick, Colin). The flag protest has been a protest existing for a long time but, recently sparked lots of controversy. Although kneeling during the national anthem may seem disrespectful are often seen as a disrespect to the flag and troops, a inefficient way to promote a cause, and anger many people in shows division in the country, it can show that the ideals of freedom is justified, it generates conversation and awareness about topic, and is a legal form of peaceful protest.

In past protest, people have made signs and have marched, in today 's situation people are burning the American flag. It should be illegal, right? The sad news is that it is one hundred percent legal. It should be illegal to burn the flag because it is a symbol of America and freedom, it is disrespectful, and it is an important part in history.

EVery time i hear “American flag” It reminds me of the Pledge of Allegiance.
