When asked about the military Kaepernick said “They fight for freedom. They fight for the people, they fight for liberty and justice for everyone. And that’s not happening. People are dying in vain because this country isn’t holding their end of the bargain up, as far as giving freedom and justice, liberty to everybody.” The gift of freedom, liberty and justice for all was bought at the price of our soldiers’ lives; however, for some minorities these three cornerstones of rights are continuously taken away by corrupt police officers.
Holly Pryle Emily Chappell English 121 22 March 2018 Kneeling for the Anthem Every American child is raised with the knowledge that they were born in a country that by law gives them freedom of self-expression and the right to protest. However, this right does not mean that people must agree with you and in many cases, groups wind up at odds over differing opinions. Over the past few years America has seen many examples of this, most notably football players protesting injustice by kneeling during the anthem.
3) Brummitt treated this ceremony as a battle and he would be the one flying the American flag once the smoke clears. Flag desecration and flag burning should not be protected by freedom of speech. The American flag is a National symbol and should not be infringed upon. Desecrating the American flag desecrates the hearts of past and present, men and women who have served for the United States of America.
Martin Luther King Jr. is a well-known civil rights activist and he is also a minister. In 1967, King gave a speech at a meeting called “Clergy and Laymen concerned about Vietnam” (King). King starts of by telling his opinion about the Vietnam War. He believes that the war is an enemy of the poor, because America would never invest money into the poor as long as the war was still going on. He also believes that sending sons, fathers, and brothers into war is nonsense, because they knew that they would die in high proportions.
Many lives were taken when fighting for their country to have justice for what Germany and the British government did. On document 9 it states “you have sickness in your head, for this is not justice.” It demonstrates on how it affected the people being attacked. On the other hand others responded differently. Many African rulers pledge themselves to not start war with other tribes.
Being a soldier takes courage, being a transgender soldier takes even more. Trump is banning transgender soldiers from serving in the military because it could "hinder military effectiveness, lethality, cohesion, and tax military resources" said by President Trump. Banning transgender soldiers is wrong and should be stopped because not allowing them the sever is discrimination. There are troops that are already serving in the military and the medical cost has little to no impact on the economy. By not allowing transgender soldiers to server is discrimination.
Within every individual’s past, or even the past of a nation, there are certain parts that are attempted to be covered up. The desire to disguise the dissatisfactory is partially to blame on human nature. As individuals, no one wants to be looked down on for the negative parts of their past -- the same goes for nations as a whole. To be specific, every nation would like to try and cover up the darkness and the horrendous baggage from war times. No leader, army, or individual would like to discuss the murder and harm done during war.
He wants to build a great wall to block out all immigrants. Recently he said “Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life (Donald Trump).” He is causing a lot of stir in the political
From Henry’s perspective the flag symbolizes hard work, respect, and the dedication he’s put into his country. Personally, I think that Henry is too sensitive. In my opinion, we are nothing alike. Henry wanted to enlist in the war, i don’t see any reason for participating in a war that has nothing to do with me.
Everyone should show respect for our country wether they want to or not. Someone needs to stand up and do something about this. The National Football League thinks that it is alright to kneel during the National Anthem because they say there not disrespecting the veterans that proudly stand up to fight for our country they kneel because of Police officers treating blacks bad and to protest against the NFL’s owners and Mr. Trump. But kneeling during the National Anthem is rude and disrespectful because its meant to show respect for the people who fight for our country and who lost there lives for us to save
(www.quotehd.com) When Americans say the Pledge of Allegiance they do so as a sign of respect. By reciting the pledge, you are stating your allegiance to the Republic. It does not mean that you agree with the government or the direction they are taking the country. Your pledge is to the United States of America not a particular political party or candidate. Every citizen should value the life they have been given living here.
"Common Sense" was one of the most important pieces of literature in early America, because it was extremely influential to many people throughout all of American colonies. The colonist came to America to escape religious boundaries. They wanted to be able to worship God freely. Thomas Paine uses this to his advantage by using scriptural quotes, pathos, to convince his audience that it is common sense for the colonists to break completely with Great Britain. He says that "a monarchy is terrible, and to have a king is not only an unsuccessful way to rule a nation, but it is also a sin."
All soldiers are true heroes; they die for a cause that they are trying to protect. The southern side felt over-powered by the fact that the northern side was going to industrialize themselves into a bigger economy that everyone would soon have to face including the south. This flag is no being taken down and pushed aside for the wrongfulness that was made from the church shooter; everyone knows a flag cannot make you do anything without your own intentions to do so. People now believe that his true intentions were based of the confederate flag and now they are wanting to destroy the legacy of the flag and keep it locked up in a dungeon, they want all knowing of this flag to be destroyed so they prohibit us to sell our flag, and they keep the unknowing things from the people in order to depict the hatred that the confederate flag
If Donald Trump had his way “People who burn the flag should have their citizenship revoked or spend a year in jail.” The flag of the United States of America represents freedom. Burning the flag is a sign of disrespect to the country and to the people who served and died trying to protect it. Just because people have a right of free speech don't not mean they have the right to burn the United States Flag.
When a flag is presented in a rival that brings hate and discontent to America it should be removed from being displayed. I strongly am offended of the Confederate flag and my opinion is a lot of others are also offended. The constant reminder of the mistreatment and enslavement of the black race is still being suffered by black people today. The confederate flag brings grief to my heart as my ancestors were subjected to slavery.
