The police also found dogs strapped to treadmills; chemicals to enhance muscle and training for the use of fighting. (AP Regional State Report) Dog fighting is outlawed in all 50 sates, but there are problems preventing it. The ways we could possibly prevent it, get rid of the fighting dog breed, give animal shelters/ breeders ways to look for signs of people that fight dogs and to start making it mandatory for dogs to be chipped. The pit bull is the main dog breed for fighting in the United States. Some people don't raise these
When examining the argument of whether BSL is fair to pit bulls, one must view both sides of the debate. The reason why the pit bull is thought of as such an aggressive dog, is that these dogs were bred specifically for their strength. "Bull and terrier breeds were created in early 19th-century England for the popular spectator sports of bull- and bear-baiting." (DogTime) Over the last forty years the pit bull has been a large debate because of the amount of fatal attacks that have been from these dogs. "In 2015, the combination of pit bulls and rottweilers contributed to 91% of all dog bite-related fatalities."
In the photograph it shows two protestors being attacked by K-9s, one protestor as the focus of the image and the other in the background of the photograph. The police officers in the photographs are allowing the dogs to attack these protestors, as it is seen that the police officers are not restraining the dogs and are in fact allowing them to savagely attack the protestors. Further evidence of the unethical treatment of these protestors was a statement made by the police commissioner Connor published along with the photographs it Vol 54. of Life Magazine in which he stated, “I want them to see the dogs work, look at those niggers run (30).” His comments and orders showed no sense of sympathy or professionalism in dealing with human beings protesting for equality. There was an assumption that had to be made that favored and supports the evidence that police officers were treating the protestors unethically. There is an assumption that the protestors were peacefully marching and gathering, which also shows the bias of the image, though powerful and real, it did not depict the nonpeaceful protestors, most of them young individuals, who were present in the Birmingham five-day riots
The owners that put their dogs through this show want the perfect dog. So to get the perfect dog they arrange canine incest, forcing mothers to breed with their sons and fathers to breed with their daughters. This breeding can cause health problems in the puppies such as epilepsy, hypothyroidism and elbow dysplasia. The dogs are judged by their looks, which can cause the breeders to breed in certain traits for certain breeds. For example, this causes dachshunds to have long spines and short legs which can cause disc disease.
We should be sure not to ban an entire breed because of popular perceptions and misunderstandings. Of course, it is understandable why people might be nervous about pitbulls, and the danger they might represent. A five year review of dog attack victims admitted to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia indicated that pit bull terriers were responsible for 51% of them. Then, when attacks happen they are widely reported by the media and the stories are blown out of proportion, scaring the people who view the reports. People should always be cautious with any animal, because all animals are capable of attacking people.
Workers kicked, threw and hauled dogs; lifted puppies by their throats. A former supervisor and three former employees of the laboratory were charged on felony cruelty. This brought people to realize the issue and concern of animal safety and the torturous ways animals are being killed and tested on today. In strong belief, animal testing should without a doubt be banned. To begin with, animals have as much of a right not to be tested on as humans do.
“The ASPCA is the big organization that working on to stop the dog fighting. It is hard for law to do an investigation because the dog fight is usually secret and violent. An investigation of dog fighting will be required a lot of skills and times , so it’s hard to investigate a dog fight” ( A Closer Look,n.pag) .Attending a dog fight is an illegal activity in 50 states, The dog fighting is felony over 50 states. The Animal Welfare Act of 1966 prohibits the animal fights will be illegal , or the people those are related to these activities.”The Congress passed the Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act in 2007 to support strongly against this activity. The crime of dog fighting could lead to 3 years in jail and $250,000 fine”( Gibson,n.pag). The dogfight is secret and violent , it was working underground, not many people know about how does this work, so it’s hard to investigate the
More than 7.6 million animals are abused, killed, and abandoned every year in the United States alone. This is a real problem that needs attention brought to it in order to solve it. Animal cruelty is when a person purposely chooses to hurt an animal or does not take care of the animal. It is illegal to be cruel and abusive to an animal but people still decide to mistreat animals. There are many reasons why a person is cruel to an animal, those include: the person was mistreated as a child and that is the only way they know how to treat living things, they simply want to mistreat the animal, they do not know that they are hurting the animal and do not see it as a problem (“PAWS - People Helping Animals.” The Animal Abuse).
Imagine going to a animal shelter and all there is is pitbulls and you heard all of the bad things about them so you decide not to get one but instead leave and then driving down the road you see a lady with a pit bull and its playing with a bunch of kids but you don't like it and you think that people shouldn't own pit bulls well i think people should be able to own them. If you have an imagine of a evil vicious killer when you hear pit bull then you haven't met a real pitbull the ones they call killers are brainwashed to be like that. They were made to fight but all of the pitbulls i have been around are all super friendly and nice and wouldn't hurt anyone unless they were protecting them. The ones you hear about are tortured and beaten and never shown any love at all sometimes they get put into fights then forgotten about left to die in someone's backyard stuck to a chain. It's the hard truth but how much better would it be if you adopted that pitbull puppy and gave it the love it needs so it won't end up like the mean ones you see.
The article wasn’t very well written in my personal opinion and I disagree with his support for banning specific dog breeds. In the article “Dog Ban Only Solution to Attacks”, the author expresses his opinion of banning certain types of dog breeds in America. The author opens his article by talking about the educational programs many schools have to teach children how to work with animals. He then makes the point that although it is important to teach children how to act around animals, that won’t keep dog attacks from happening. He supports this point by following it with a story of a zookeeper with twenty years of experience who was killed by a tiger.
Breeds sometimes labeled pit bull include the American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, bull terrier, and Staffordshire bull terrier. Some nation have passed laws regulating or even halt the control of pit bulls. Studies have shown that it is the cure and care of a dog—and not the dog 's breed—that play a rich role in deadly dog strike. Yet pit bulls do once or twice attack and even kill human
Within the whole dog populace, 6% are that of pit bulls. Whilst they are originally bred as bully dogs, pit bulls transcended the notion and become more welcoming to human care. By the early 1900s, pit bulls are dubbed to be 'nanny dogs ' due to their caring and affectionate nature towards children and the elderly. And one unnoticed truth about dog attacks and pit bulls is that breeds aren’t really a factor if a dog would bite deep or not. The breed isn 't really accepted to be an essential factor in dog attacks, and so the misconception about pit bulls being a crazed dog breed isn 't really factual.
