Have you ever asked yourself who is the most important person in history. Clara Barton has had more impact on American society and culture than any other person in history for the three following reasons she was a nurse in the civil war, she founded the American Red Cross, and she was a teacher/patent officer. Clara Barton was widely recognized for her remarkable leadership and humanitarian accomplishments. Presidents, generals, soldiers, and royalty recognized her great contributions to society. Children, schools, streets, and several retail items were named in her honor.
Maryville resident Leah Koger also gave blood, she donates a couple of times a year. “I know that the blood center is really needing O negative blood and that’s my blood type,” Koger said. “They’ve been calling me everyday. The CCC was established in 1933 as the U.S. sank deeper and deeper into debt. The Civilian Conservation Corp contributed to the end of the Great Depression by creating jobs for the unemployed, educating those employed, and by supplying the workers families with money. The goal of FDR’s New Deal, which created the CCC, was to create jobs in the US and the CCC had a major role in that. Over its nine years of operation,

Finding a solid feel for the two organizations began with exploring their mission statements. FEMA’s is very plain and direct, “Helping people before, during, and after disasters.” (fema.gov) They achieve this mission through education prior to catastrophes, assembling resources and activating notifications during, and providing support and guidance for citizens afterwards. The Red Cross has a broad and elegant mission statement. “To prevent and alleviate
The word got around about the March of Dimes during the war years by the Radio, Hollywood, and the president’s personal appeal. (Rose) According to the March of Dimes website the original mission of the March of Dimes was accomplished and then the foundation was then able to turn its focus on the prevention of birth defects and infant mortality. How many of you have family that has worked in the armed forces? Or how many people have friends that live in third world or poor countries? On December 25, 1821, a tiny Christmas baby, who would become one of the greatest civil war heroines ever, was born into a loving middle class family. Clara Barton had four older siblings that adored her and taught her many life skills that would be crucial for her later career. School was very boring to her because she liked to care for others rather than learn about the world.
Neglect of Black achievements In response to a recent letter titled “Mis-Education of African Americans,” I would like to share with the writer and the readers the story of Dr. Charles Drew. It’s an example of the neglect of Black achievements. Dr. Charles Drew was an African American blood specialist, surgeon, educator, scientist and civil rights advocate. His pioneering work in blood collection, plasma processing and transfusion laid the foundation for modern blood banking.
The blood people need and international problem. The health and safety people are in. ii. Support idea 1. This is very serious because disaster is happening everywhere.
I schedule the appointments, check those in that are donating and relay the importance of donating blood to the student body. Also, being a member of River Valley’s FFA chapter I participate in activities such as Food for America, Adopt-a-Family, and Community Breakfast. FFA has been a very important part to my high school experience because it has taught me the
I started to donate blood when I turned 15. I was only allowed to donate if my mom signed a parental permission form and so when I presented the form to my mom she was curious. She asked me why I felt the need to donate blood and I told her it was my individual way of giving back. I was 15 and wanted to make a difference and I had to start with something.
