India. The world’s 2nd largest and fastest rising population. The country where cows are holy and untouchable, or where so much tea and so many films come from. But how much more do you really know about this astonishing country? Let us have a look.
First thing to point out is that the Indian culture is one of the world’s oldest, and therefore extremely varying. We are presenting to you some useful facts which are good to know when traveling to India.
Everyone has heard about the caste system in India, where people born in a different caste are often discriminated against. But don’t be afraid, the locals usually don’t expect foreigners or tourists to behave differently to people from different castes, so you don’t really need to keep that in mind all of your trip to India. Surely many of us know that religion is a strong part of the Indian culture. Therefore, it is extremely important that you, as a visitor, respect the religious rules, such as taking of your shoes when entering a religious site. Now, India is a warm country and it is surely comfortable to wear shorts. However, when visiting a religious site, don’t.
