An Album cover is a front cover of several selections of songs.Because of this, all album covers have a meaning to it,and the album cover that i 'm using as one of my items is Kevin Gates “Islah” album.People think because he has his two fingers to his head like a gun that he is going to kill himself but if you really listen to the album you will realize that it means if someone disrespects him he will die bout it.Also, I really love music. Music really makes me feel good.I like music that lifts me up when i’m feeling down.I really like listening to music by my favorite artist Kevin Gates. The reason why I like listening to his music because everything that comes out of his mouth when he is rapping is the truth.I can relate to him because I don’t like to be around so many fake people the reason why because they can get you caught up in whatever you are doing. Also,I don’t like to surround myself with negative energy because people like that gets me out of character. In conclusion, music by Kevin Gates gives me a good vibe. Every single day, society tries to define my cultural identity. I struggle trying to set myself apart from the norm but, being a modern American teenage girl, I find myself being influenced by what is considered “cool.” It attempts to make me the “perfect” version of myself. But I am not what society wants me to be. I suppose you could call me an average American fifteen year old girl.

The background of my cultural identity I am an African American female but that isn’t all there is to know me for. I am an African American girl who is very interactive with my religion and also my culture. Cultural identity can be hard to explain because some people don’t know what’s really in their culture and they fail to see , and understand it. I know what my cultural identity is because of my ethiopian flag, the baked macaroni, and the movie the lion king.
The world is filled with people, and like snowflakes, each person is not the same as another. Each person identifies with different aspects of their lives to create their own personal identities. I personally identify with my Italian side of my family to help form who I am today. I have found myself connecting with this side more so than the other parts of my identity. It affects how I live my life by becoming the center to the culture surrounding me.
Cultural Identity Literature Review Cultural identity is not only how one views themselves, but a large part of how society views them. Two major aspects of one’s own identity are the aspects of one’s reputations and also their ethnic background. I believe that is the combination of both of these (customs and traditions and ethnic backround) that truly effect how society treats a person. One huge aspect of how people are viewed is their own reputation.
Our ancestors and the generations that came before us have left behind their cultural values and traditions that are being passed on to their future generations. Many people tightly hold onto their cultural identities and values, by using them as a guide to get through life, while some do not. However, the cultural identity is something that one can not get rid of, even if he/she wants to. It is what connects us to our homelands and to our ancestors, and their cultural beliefs and values, that have been passed on to their generations, who have either held on to them or let them go. It is very important that we know who these people were, because they contribute a lot to who we are today, and our cultural identities.
This Is Me Before receiving this assignment I had never really thought about myself having a cultural identity much less what that identity would be. I fall into so many of the dominant subgroups I never needed to worry about being a minority. However, looking at all the factors that compose a person's cultural identity I realize that there are some categories I fall into that make me unique from those around me. I am know as a “cradle catholic”. This means I was raised in the Catholic Church from infancy.
Throughout my experiences in this course so far, I have had many opportunities to reflect on my own past and have begun to better understand my own cultural identity. It has been much more difficult to wrap my head around than I would have predicted it to be because so many things play into the construction of an identity that it can be hard to look at all of those separate pieces together. My cultural identity, like all others, is more complicated than it first appears. I identify as a white person, a woman, an American, a gay person, and a feminist, just to name a few. While all of these labels carry with them stereotypes and expectations, they also interplay with the cultural influences I was subject to throughout my childhood.
When someone says “Cultural identity” what comes to mind? At first when I heard it I thought it meant to identify your culture. Those two words lead me to start asking myself one question repeatedly “what is my culture?’’ A lot of people think your ethnicity alone makes up your culture , but there is so much more that can shape your cultural identity like religion, technology, friends/family, music, etc. When I found out that your cultural identity is shaped by a whole lot of stuff I slowly began to understand what makes up my cultural identity and I learned that my family and my religious beliefs plays a big part.
The rise of multiculturalism in nearly all societies across the globe has brought with it countless questions that are still unanswered. The problem of whether people from different cultures should have the right to express their cultural identity in a mixed society has been highly discussed for the last 10 years. There are two main trains of thought. On the one hand, those who believe that expressing cultural identity is a part of freedom of speech, and hence should never be taken away. On the other hand, there are those who argue that people must comply with the cultural norm of the country they are living in.

Growing up with an african family was interesting to say the least, my mother and father always cooking, Liberian films, music, and stories. I loved the stories of my culture no matter how ridiculous they were. With stories ranging from snake holy water, to police refusing to work unless you bribed them, and my mother 's long running physic scam, I was always intrigued. My mother and i being the fabulous people that we are were watching, a fashion week live stream, when she yelled chofee ku, which if you don’t know means robber. And she was right, what we saw was horrifying.
Self-Culture and Family Origin I view my culture as the values, beliefs, and principles that my family and I value. My culture would be defined as white, upper middle class, law enforcement, Midwestern. Based upon my culture and how I was raised some values and principles that are most influential into how I act and live my life are family, kindness, hard work, respect, and education. The most important value of all of these is family. Family is the core of who I am and it means more to me than anything else.
