An Unforgettable Teen Idol
David Cassidy did what most American teen boys would like to do. He became a teen idol and had thousands of teenage girls madly in love with him. However becoming a teen idol is a big responsibility because you can get so caught up in all of the madness that you lose sense of who you really are. Another thing that makes teen idols vulnerable is that all of their popularity can disappear as quickly as it began. David Cassidy had his day in the sun but as all teenage boys do he grew up and even though he tried to stay popular and talented he never achieved the stardom of other rockers such as Billy Joel or Bruce Springsteen. That is a hard thing to accept and David Cassidy took it so hard that he turned to alcoholism.

The Partridge Family albums sold more than a million copies each in the U.S. and all over the globe. David Cassidy stood out from the rest and when his solo career took off he also started touring.

The Partridge Family Albums

Released in 1970 their very first album was titled The Partridge Family Album and included their popular hit “I Think I Love You” Other popular songs on the album were “I Really Want to Know You” and “To Be Lovers”.

The next album was Up to Date released in February 1971 and included two hits “I’ll Meet You Halfway” and “Doesn’t Somebody Want to Be Wanted”.

Their third album Sound Magazine was released in August 1971. The song which became a hit from the album was “I Woke Up in Love This Morning”. Two other songs worth listening to were “Brown Eyes” and “Summer Days”.

In 1971 The Partridge Family also released a Christmas album with songs like “White Christmas” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas

Songs on this album included “Walking in the Rain” and “Looking Through the Eyes of Love”.

In 1973 they released Bulletin Board with songs like “Oh No Not My Baby” and “How Long is Too Long”.

Their second to last album was Crossword Puzzle which did not have any hit singles. It included songs like “One Day At a Time” and “It’s a Long Way to Heaven”.

In 2000 David Cassidy and The Partridge Family: The Definitive Collection was released.

David Cassidy Albums

His first solo album came out in 1972 titled Cherish. The album featured the title song and song like “My First Night Alone Without You” and “Where Is the Morning”.

The next album Rock Me Baby included the title song and other songs such as “Some Kind Of Summer” and “Go Now”.

Next up was Dreams Are Nuthin’ More Than Wishes with songs popular songs like “Daydream” and “Fever”.

In 1974 Cassidy released a live album recorded in the U.K. which included covers of songs by other artists such as one Lennon/McCartney song “Please, Please Me”.

In 1975 he came out with The Higher They Climb. Song on the album included “Be-Bop-A-Lula” and “Darlin’”.
