Athletics are not only encouraged at the Devon school, they are also required. This is understood when Gene takes the job as an assistant which usually goes to disabled people. He said, “Jobs like mine were usually taken by boys with some physical disability, since everyone had to take part in sports and this was all the disabled boys could do” (69). This shows how important sports are to this school. A lot of this encouragement of sports comes from WWII which was in session during this time.
Student athletes who are passionate about playing sports usually have dreams, goals, or milestones set for after their high school life. Their goal is not to only attend sports in high school, but also in college or in the pros. Why do you think athletes work so hard? They push themselves to the limit physically to be the best they can be.
Did you know that depending on the sport, students who play sports in college most likely have less than a 2% chance of becoming professional athletes? At middle schools, high schools and colleges across the country, everyone is arguing over whether or not students with failing grades should be allowed to play sports. In my opinion, a good education is so very important for our country’s youth, especially the athletes. Not a lot of kids are good enough to play in the top college sports programs in the country. But even those who are, still have an astonishingly low chance at making the professional leagues.
As a definite game or sporting event has its unique demand for body type so as the athletes body type suited to a definite sport. Several research studies have been conducted to analyze the impact of body or somatotype on sport also numerous studies conducted to assess the effects of body composition on various sporting events but according to the literature available very few studies have been conducted to locate the difference of body composition among weight lifters and body builders though performance in both of them are to a great extent influenced by their bodily fat mass, lean mass, fat percentage etc. thus the author felt encouraged to conduct the study entitled “A comparative study to explore the difference on body composition variables between state level body builders and weight lifters”. From data analysis the investigator arrived at the conclusion that Weight lifters possess more fat percent than the body builders, weight lifters possess more fat mass than the body builders. Also the weight lifters possess more lean body mass than the body
Many athletes that make it this far in their athletic career have worked hard and they have the physical capability to do things. They have natural talent when it comes to the sport that they are in. This doesn’t go for every athlete because some athletes work harder when they don’t have the natural ability, but for most athletes at these levels they have a natural ability to perform in their sport. There is also mechanics in sports. Athletes in college and in the pros work on mechanics every time they practice.
Kids need competition, but not to much. When more pressure is put on from coaches during a game it makes the game two times more competitive. It is really tough for coaches to be able to tell if the pressure it is affecting the kids but they have to be cautious because their words mean a lot. During game action coaches have the most influence on
For example, a competitive environment teaches kids how to handle pressure and criticism (Mango 3). Most sports have situations that put athletes in tight spots. Even though they push them out of their comfort zone, it teaches them how to keep cool and figure it out. Some may say that too much pressure for youths can leave a negative impact on them. On the other hand, by learning how to cope with the tension and criticism from supportive coaches and teammates, kids can persevere through these problems and grow stronger mentally.
Be a very famous athlete and touch the lives of others at the same time. Lou Gehrig had a lot of intelligence and kindness that he shared with the world. Not many people could say that they experienced what he did when he was alive. Although, if I were to apply his experiences into my life, I would try to work hard at being a good person and dedicate myself at what will want to do with my life in the future. No matter what happened to Lou Gehrig in the end, he will always be remembered to be The Iron Horse, one of the greatest baseball players to play the
There are many fans of collegiate level sports since they believe that players at this level play with more passion than an athlete at the professional level (Patterson). Some professional athletes don’t feel the need to work hard considering they have already made it to the highest level (Patterson). Unlike some professionals, collegiate athletes are so motivated to make it to that next level that they make the best of every opportunity given to them (Patterson). Awarding collegiate athletes a salary will make them feel as if they’re already at the highest level of sports. Given that the average age of collegiate athletes is around 19 years old means that they are not fully matured.
All around the world college accept athletes to play at their school. They have amazing skills and do not get rewarded or the publicity they deserve. Athletes represent and show lots of love to their schools. Colleges and governments agencies need to recognize the importance part that college athletes play in the status of their institutes of higher learning. College athletes perform at an very high level.
If they don’t have great endurance then it becomes impossible to do those tough workouts sessions twice a day. Being able to push their bodies to the limit both during training and in the sport is what is all about. This can be the steroid that helps beginners to really feel confident and to get into a routine that they can stick with. Most people aren’t able to be able to stay with it if they aren’t seeing some immediate results that they can continue to build upon. We like that visual aspect of it all.
Having their athletes workout at a young age every once in awhile isn’t that big of a deal, but everyday, that’s overdoing it! Young athletes generally have high spirits and big dreams, but having a coach who only criticizes them and never lifts them up can easily demoralize anyone 's dreams! Magic Johnson said this quote, “All young athletes need is a little hope, and someone who believes in them.” (Johnson) I agree with that 100%, because most coaches can’t see how their coaching tactics are tearing down their athletes instead of building them up because it’s never been brought to their attention. However, there was one situation where a coach was being overly aggressive towards the players on his team, and even after being told to stop he still didn’t change his
People think that soldiers train much more than athletes. Yes, but no. They may do harder training but that is what they signed up for, right? Athletes train everyday and practice everyday. If you think about it, in college, they have practice everyday.
I am one that is always open to suggestions and feedback so I can better myself and better help the students I work with. Personally, I love reading about other people’s leadership styles because they are so much more experienced than I, and have tried and tested more than one approach before landing on one that works for them. While reading about Coach Wooden’s experiences and the lessons he wanted to share, I also feel I have a new understanding of what it would be like to be a coach. Since I have not coached or been involved with many typical team sports growing up, I don’t have many of the same experiences to relate to as my classmates. Reading this book has helped put in perspective the amount of time, dedication, and skill it takes to work in the world of collegiate coaching.
These students love the game so much, they allow the risk to outweigh the reward. What 's different about college is, by the time you 're in college you 're almost fully developed, so collegiate athletics is the start of more severe, high risk injuries that could change your life. There aren 't many high risky none paying jobs in the world today, this is important for the athletes who are talented enough to go professional because this is their future. Going pro is just some people’s destiny so they make short, well paid career out of it.
