Will you do me that favor?’ ” (118). This shows that Scrooge actually wants to donate money from his heart without any benefit from it because now Scrooge really cares about mankind and thinks that they’re his business. This also reveals that Scrooge is kinder because of manifold way he spoke. For instance, “If you please,” or “Will you do me a favor,” are very sophisticated words
The Cratchit’s would have a big dinner instead of a tiny one, and Scrooge would go to Fred’s party and not be the center of mockery (Dickens 39-40) (Dickens 66-68). Ultimately, the Ghost of Christmas Past did less than the Ghost of Christmas Present to help change Scrooge. Clearly, the Ghost of Christmas Present had the greatest influence on Scrooge. This ghost taught Scrooge to care about other people, celebrate Christmas, and that your own words can show your true feelings. This does leave me with one question.
Scrooge despises Christmas. A gentleman visitor came and he was raising money for the poor and he asked for a donation. Scrooge replies, “ If they would rather die then they had better do it and decrease the surplus population.” Scrooge is cheap and only cares about himself. Cratchit his employee works very hard but does not get paid very well. When his work is over he asks for a day off on Christmas.
When The ghost of Christmas Past haunts Scrooge, it shows him his past. It shows when he was a little kid, teenager, and young adult. This Ghost shows Scrooge’s mistakes and times when he was a happy, joyful, and not a greedy person. In this Stave of the book it says, “It was a strange figure --- like a child: yet not so like a child as like an old man, viewed through some supernatural medium, which gave him the appearance of having receded from the view, and being diminished to a child’s proportions” (Dickens 23). This quote from the book, in which Scrooge states that the ghost was not young or old; it was switching between the two.
To end, Scrooge finally says something that makes Yet to Come take Scrooge to the present and redeem himself, “I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all year. I will live in the Past, Present, and the Future. The spirits of all three shall strive within me.” Alas, Scrooge has, soon enough, found the key to a happy rest of his
He was grumpy and paid no respect to anybody. He was a stingy man with a cold heart, engrossed by money. He could not recognize the value of his family. But the ghosts of Christmas came to change his life. In, A Christmas Carol, Scrooge visits, a happy moment with his sister, his old employers house, and the Cratchits singing on Christmas day, on the journey with the Christmas ghosts.
This makes understand how he acts through the acts of other people. Scrooge is shown the outcome of his life which gives him a motive to
A deep, loud voice called Scrooge’s name. Scrooge walked through the door and saw an enormous man sitting on a throne of Christmas presents. The man introduced himself as the Ghost of Christmas Present. The ghost demanded Scrooge grab his robe in order to see visions of the Christmas present. The ghost showed Scrooge his employee having a happy and jolly Christmas dinner with his family.
Scrooge has started to really understand what he has done wrong in his life and how selfish and mean he really is . The ghost of Christmas Yet to Come shows Scrooge his future and how the people don’t care that Scrooge dies “If there is any person in the town, who feels emotion caused by this man’s death,” said Scrooge quite agonised, “show that person to me, Spirit, I beseech you” ( Dickens 11 ). Scrooge is seeing how people treat him when he is dead but Scrooge has no clue they are talking about him. Scrooge is showed the future but Scrooge thinks he has already changed completely because he has no idea that the person the men are talking about is him. Scrooge is changing fast but he has not seen the shadows that have not happened but will happen soon "You are about to show me shadows of the things that have not happened, but will happen in the time before us," Scrooge pursued.
These third spirits come to shown Scrooge of mysterious scenes related to an unnamed man’s recent death, which of three business gentleman discussed about the money and the interment. After that, Scrooge begged to the spirits and want to know the dead man. Scrooge found himself in churchyard and shocked after read his own name on the headstone and no one care about his dead. The ghost of Christmas Yet to Come want to show Scrooge that he will be dead alone and no one care about him if he does not change his attitude. Due to the presence of the ghost of Christmas future, Scrooge feel deeply sad, and find out on what he has does during these day is really shameful as well as its effect that will cause him feel regret in future.
