Or another effect that students are not well prepare enough for the real world because they just try to get the degree to graduate and actually not learn anything. If going to college is free, it is similar of students go to elementary, middle or high school, they are just going to school and are not really think ahead of their future. But when students get to college, hopefully they are old enough to realize what is best for them. If free college could happen, students should be thankful for that and try their best to achieve what they want. College should be free because of it can makes a big effect on student 's lives.
Although one might say attending college is a good thing, it can also be a bad thing. Parents can be proud of their kids for going to college, but some think college is not worth the time and benefits. Parents work really hard for this money and what happens if the student fails and drop out from college. What happens if you don’t do well in college and you don’t get a degree. Some parents think earning a college degree is useless especially if they are paying for your tuition.
There are many different ways to earn money. In the article “Should College Athletes be Paid,” both Joe Nocera and Bob Williams have very different opinions. Although these athletes bring in money for the school, college athletes should not be paid because being paid could prevent other students from participating in college sports and it could take their attention away from academics. Many people love to purchase items for their favorite college team or college player. When purchasing these items, the school is given money, as Joe Nocera states,”... the football and basketball players are there to generate revenue for the school.”(22) Many see that it is unfair for the main attraction to not be paid.
If the players or team aren’t very talented then tickets won’t sell, jerseys won’t sell and college won’t be supported, therefore making less money. However, if the team is very exceptional then the opposite occurs the college receives a glorious payday every weekend. Many others agree that college players should be paid as well. In a survey conducted at Hillsborough Middle School, in Pod 7/8c, 14 out of 20 students believe that college athletes should be paid. The other 30% of students believe that college athletes shouldn’t be paid only because of their age, only being in highschool and because they haven’t made it big.
They actually stated this “Gerald Jackson, the founder of a nonprofit group called Learning for Everyone, has also made the point that not all students need to prepare for college”. I strongly disagree with that statement because there is very smart people who don’t need to prepare for college but college isn’t like high school, college is a very different level of education it’s gonna be a lot harder than high school work. So basically anybody going to college should study for it cause you know what to go to college thinking you know everything and then fail. The people that aren’t going to college and plan on going straight into the workforce will be hard, because they are going in blind without going to college to have a set job title. Both of the arguments were good ones they both stated facts on what they were arguing about i just thought argument B was the better argument.
What is College Worth? The worth behind a college education continues to shift as times change. This day in age, the educational system in the US is failing because for some reason, earning a bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject does not guarantee a job and that is not acceptable. If someone puts in the time, effort, money and is successful enough to get through four to six years in college, they deserve a job in their field. Of course this is never going to become a reality with the current system in place, however if the government stopped providing so much aid, there would be a significantly smaller amount of students earning degrees and the jobs requiring those degrees would be more widely available.
Since college tuition and student debt keeps spiking every year, people wonder if its worth it to go and that is an enormous challenge students and parents are facing in today 's time. To change the minds of parents who say college burns holes in their pockets and students who won 't go because they don 't want to get a summer job for the next four or so years to pay off college, I say show they money, literally. If only students knew from a young age, like 13, that they should start searching for scholarships and parents knew how much scholarship money is out there, then people would realize college doesn 't have to be expensive. So say a kid named Barry who 's an 8th grader was given a presentation at his school presented by the collage board of his state, say Maine, about all the different types of financial help there is. Now Barry gets this idea that he should start looking for scholarships and applying for grants because it is never too early to do so (in some cases).
College shouldn 't be free in my opinion because then schools wouldn 't be able to make money. Also if it were to be free a lot of students around the world would want to go to the same school and it would get to many people so it just wouldn’t work out. In the article “Should College Be Free?” it states “Students might take their college education less seriously if they don’t

After you have finished paying off your student debt because of your college classes and education that you obtained, you will be left with more job opportunities.
