He used his story in his books to make his rough childhood known. He used his ability of courage to for one, trick his mom out of things and also just survive. He is able to encourage others with his books and show them things aren’t as bad as you may think. He has a lot of endurance. The part of Dave Pelzer’s life that I admire the most is that he would find little tricks to outsmart his mother. He had a lot of self-control. When Dave’s mom would play her “games” with him he would find a way out of most of them only half as badly hurt as he could have been. For example, when she tried to lay him on top of the stove, he would stall and watch the clock and put it off until someone got home. He would push through bullying at school. Instead focusing on them, he worked really hard on grades. He was good at school and I admire that. He is a strong person who learned how to get through tough times and help others. He has accomplished a lot in his life so far. He has been on many talk shows such as Oprah. A lot of people interview David. They are all super amazed to just see how great he is. A Brother’s Journey and A Teenager’s Journey are two of Richard Pelzer, Dave’s brother, books. This book gives an accurate account of this subject because David Pelzer wrote it. Only he could know exactly how it felt to be

Additionally, “coming of age” can signify that a boy or girl is mature enough to understand his or her responsibility towards society and family.
