I first became familiar with this list while completing my undergraduate degree, however, I have found it useful throughout my professional career. To appropriately meet the needs of this position I will primarily integrate four features from that list into my plan for communicating with staff and community members. First, I will “communicate early and often”, utilizing a variety of platforms including email, social media, schools newsletters, and the media (Pattonville School District, 2009, p.1). Next, I will strive to communicate “face-to face” as frequently as possible, through regular scheduled staff meetings, and community nights. This will provide individuals the opportunity to gain immediate clarification or provide feedback for current initiatives. I would like to also integrate Pattonville School Districts belief that communication should be “brief and to the point” (p.2). Regardless of the form of communication, I find that it is important to stay focused on the pertinent information, therefore, I will avoid including unrelated stories or ideas. The final feature, and perhaps most important, I will integrate into my communication plan is to “never lie” (Pattonville School District, 2009, p.2). I feel that avoiding dishonesty will further contribute to the development of trusting relationships, and the effectiveness of our school reform efforts. In addition to these strategies, I find it necessary to establish listening as part of my communication plan. As a new member of this community, it will be especially important to “ask questions instead of just giving answers”, so that I may appropriately meet the unique needs of this position (New Zealand Ministry of Education, 2017,
This new superintendent may have came from an academic culture where the line of communication was more loosely shared between all faculty. At Kelsey Middle School, the line of communication starts at the top and passes through channels to reach even the lowest receiver on the chain. This information then also travels back up in the opposite direction through these same channels. When information is passing through channel to channel, the message could unintentional be changed. This is why message should not be passed in this manner through verbal communication.
Over my short, seventeen-year lifetime, I have had passions in many areas, from geography to soccer to leadership. However, as I have grown older, I have had a growing passion for the schools in my area because they taught me everything that I know and have given me all the opportunities that I have taken advantage of. Because of this growing passion, I became involved in two very important organizations that influence the future of the Sartell – St. Stephen School District: the Community Schools Planning Initiative and the Sartell – St. Stephen Board Of Education. The Community Schools Planning Initiative was launched at the start of 2015 in order to come up with a vision for the future of the Sartell – St. Stephen School District and a plan to match that
As retired teachers, we know it is important to stand up and support what we believe is best for our community. That is why we support Michael N. Smith for the office of Superintendent for Regional Office of Education #11. We cannot afford the status quo. We need someone who can build and foster a positive working relationship with all schools within our region where an honest exchange of ideas and concerns can take place without consequences. We need someone who has the support of area administrators who respect the office and the person who holds that office.
I have worked to expand my leadership skills at the district level in budgeting, leadership, project management and application of Career and Technical Education (CTE) initiatives, aligning frameworks, connecting with Middle School programs, Advisory Committees and Technology Initiatives. I work with Sumner's CTE staff to complete
With meetings and personnel set. This year we are organized to hit the ground running. As O’Neil stated, school newsletters, parent/teacher conferences, Parent Teacher Association or Organizations meetings, classroom visits, school board meetings, student to student, student to parent, newspapers and television reports, local business conversations, websites, social media feeds, and social networking sites" (2012, p. 75); my school has scheduled meetings that address these communication strategies. We have designated people in charge of them to utilize each venue for success. 2.
Current career paths to executive ranks within American public schools reveal that all roads can lead to the superintendency. The myriad of pathways has attracted a diverse candidate pool for many of our nation’s public schools. The most recent decennial study of the superintendency by American Association of School Administrators (Kowalski et al., 2010) report that superintendent career paths remain similar over the past three decades and identify three primary career paths to the office. Forty-nine percent of superintendents matriculated from being a classroom teacher to assistant principal or principal and then to a central office administrative position before becoming a Superintendent. The second pathway indicated that 31 percent of

I am also beginning the design process for a new district summer school program. Summer School 2.0 will be a web based program in which the teacher will meet with students once or twice a month to set goals and communicate via Google Classroom and email the remainder of the time utilizing online resources. I have been a go to person to help lead the building in the absence of the school principal. I have dealt with student behavior problems as well as conflicts with parents. I have put myself in a position where my colleagues see me as a building leader and have garnered the respect and trust of my fellow teachers, the building and district administration, and members of the

“Effective communication is crucial to any organization, and schools are no different. With a comprehensive communications plan, you’ll be able to promote your school to parents and the community, connects with current students, attract future ones, and even successfully engage staff members.” says Jay Cooper. Both Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and the strategic communication plan used in the Nixa Public School System are very useful and innovative. To be able to have a strong communication in our school district, we should analyze these plans carefully and know the strengths and weaknesses of the school district.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application for the doctoral program at Florida Atlantic University. My interest in education began at a young age out of necessity. My upbringing was humble, and I was fortunate to have a healthy environment conducive to my education. However, that was the extent of my parents’ support.
I share my knowledge and expertise with my colleagues and members of the School, and I promote the belief that learning is a life-long commitment. 2. My academics and professional skills are not that impressive. However, it is always worth mentioning them because even the small details can create big changes if they are used for a bigger purpose. I finished my Associates degree in Political science and Spanish back in 2018 at Arizona Western College, where not only I learned about subjects at hand, but also learned skills such as project management, problem solving and planning, then, I had to work-study to finish my degree on administration of justice (I had to switch majors due to the lack of bachelors that Yuma had at the time). This led me to finish the last classes for the associate/bachelor while I was working under FedEx ground (which I'm currently working as of the time of this writing). This period of my life was difficult,
Communication can be split into different categories, namely • Verbal communication • Non- verbal communication • Written communication Effective communication involves minimising potential misunderstanding and overcome any barriers in the communication process. We make use of multiple communication channels , for example face to face conversations, telephone calls, text messages, emails, brochures etc. Choosing an appropriate communication channel is vital for effective communication, as each channel has different strengths and weaknesses. Written communication is always useful as a way of recording what has been said.
