What makes a person have diffrent thoughts, ideas, and opinons than others? What are the factors that decide if you support or hate slavery? What can lead you to death or victory? The story of “ A Occurence At Owl Creek Bridge” by Ambrose Bierce tells the story of a slave owner about to die. In the story we see the mans last thoughts and feelings. We see how afraid he is to die, and who was important enough to him for him to spare his last thoughts on. Peyton Farquhar is a slave owner minutes away from death, in this story we see what Peyton thinks he deserves and, what he values above all else. This woman shows how everyone has someone close to them. Everyone has the same feeling to at least one person in their life. This woman that he sees is the last thing he thinks about before he dies. If you the last thing you think about before your death is a person you must have very stong feeling about them, most lilkey love. The allegory for this story could be that everyone has there own story and their own perspective. While he has lived his life and grown up, he has gained his own ideas much diffrent from ares today. He was a slave owner who today we would have hated him. In the story we feel bad for him because we see his humanity and not just his ideas. This story could shows before we judge them and hate them. We should undertand each persons side of the story before immidetly juding them. What causes Peyton to live his life this way? Did Peyton see him self as a good man who deserved to live? At the end of his life Peyton saw himself reunighted with a woman he had lots of feelings for. At the end of this story he may think he was a good man and we may think that he is a bad man.
