These Filipinas more or less have gained their knowledge of the Bible from people’s mouth and not from their powerful experiences of God or in reading their Bibles. It is absurd how they have interpreted the word of God to please their human pleasures. They believed that God could not afford to punish their sins because “God is love” and the “Sacrificial death of Jesus” stands as their assurance to go to heaven that they take sin likely.” To stop this ignorance, I explained to them that the passage “God is love” in the Bible is not meant to tolerate human sinfulness, but to end its destructive nature. “God is Love” is expressed well in John 3:16 that says: “For God so loved the world,[a] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. …show more content…
It clearly says that human beings have no capacity to save themselves from the power of sin in their lives (Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”) However, because God loves His created beings very unconditionally that He offered and sacrificed His Son Jesus Christ to die a gruesome death on the cross, in behalf of humanity, to satisfy the requirements of sin. Jesus resurrection from the dead is the evidence of His victory over death. Therefore, the God of life offers eternal life to all who will accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. To make this more understandable and appealing to these Filipinas, I emphasized well that the eternal life that God is giving to them has no limitations. The gift of God’s eternal life does come in the package. This means that God will likewise provide them everything that they need to sufficiently live in the world because Jesus, who lives in them will be more than enough for all their needs. Therefore, I have challenged them to surrender their life, family, finances, happiness, sorrow, anxiousness and etc, to
Love and judgment can cause people to do things that they would never think that they would do. In the novel love and judgment causes Janie to think and make absurd decisions that she wouldn’t normally do. In her novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, Zora Neale Hurston uses figurative language to develop the theme that love and judgment can cause people to make fanatical decisions. Hurtston uses a metaphor to show love can cloud your judgment sometimes. When Joe died, Janie said this about Tea Cake “He could be the bee to a blossom.

Christian Response: Salvation, according to the Bible, is due to God’s grace and love. He provided Jesus as the sacrifice for the sins of the world. It’s through faith in the crucified and risen Jesus that we may be saved. Works are excluded (John 1:12; 3:16; Rom. 10:9-13; Eph. 2:8-9).

In the novel, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbra Kingsolver, poetry is continuously used to illustrate Adah’s character. Adah Price is the one character that always appears as though she does not belong. During her childhood while her family lived in Africa, she did not speak, and also was born with hemiplegia, which caused her to walk with a terrible limp. She was created to be very analytical, intelligent, and extremely outside the box. Her habits from when she was younger, such as reading and thinking backwards, can directly relate to her disability and is seen as her way of handling how it feels to be so different from those around her.
“Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?” [28] So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly
Therefore, behind the confrontation between Japan and Christianity, there is also tension between purportedly universal truth and the execution of these truths in reality. Ferreira and Rodrigues never questions the universality of those believes they uphold as missionaries. Rodrigues believes that “it’s precisely because truth is common to all countries and all times that we call it truth” (116). Granted absolute truth does exist, theoretical truth is not alive until it is delivered by men in reality. When Rodrigues’ loyalty to the Church is at odds with human compassion, should Rodrigues follow his mind, to cling to his belief as a steadfast Christian, or his heart, to save people as a fellow human being by apostatizing?
5 And men are instructed sufficiently that they know good from evil. And the law is given unto men. And by the law no flesh is justified; or, by the law men are cut off. Yea, by the temporal law they were cut off; and also, by the spiritual law they perish from that which is good, and become miserable forever.6 Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth.7 Behold, he offerth himself a sacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law, unto all those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit; and unto none else can the ends of the law be answered.
Self Love Conquers All “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud” (1 Corinthians 13:4). As mentioned in the Bible, this kind of love is what most people yearn for. The idea of conquering something that is beyond a person’s imagination is more valuable fighting for than actually achieving.
In the book, “Their Eyes Were Watching God”, Janie had many relationships with men. And just like all of her other male companions, Tea Cake played second fiddle to the main character of Janie. In “Their Eyes Were Watching God”, Janie had many different love interest which included the likes of Logan Killicks, Jody Starks, and eventually Tea Cake. Before meeting Tea Cake, Janie was just stringing along in two different marriages that just were not in Janie’s favor in terms of her happiness. Janie’s first two husbands ended up basically being duds when it comes to pleasing and treating Jane properly.
Question #1: What would you say is the main theme of the Bible? Answer #1: Jesus Christ is the main message of the Bible, God’s plan for mankind and the Universe, as Bickel and Jantz wrote on pg. 61. The good news of salvation in Jesus Christ.
Love plays an important part in the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God. First of all Janie spent her days looking for love. She thought love was like an element of springtime. In the story she tells Phoebe about the day she spent under the pear tree and how she watched a bee pollinate a pear tree blossom. After she witnessed that, she found herself kissing a boy named Johnny Taylor.
Atonement, by Ian McEwan, explores the theme of love through a variety of techniques such as symbolism, metaphors and repetition discuss the themes of newfound, unavailable and nurturing love. Uniquely, McEwan intertwines these techniques with foreshadowing and imagery to convey complex emotions guilt and jealousy. Additionally, repetition and characterisation develop Cecilia’s caring nature. McEwan’s use of symbolism develops strong themes of shattered and the unavailable love.

McEwan often intertwines the techniques with foreshadowing and imagery to convey complex emotions. Through the symbolism of Uncle Clem’s vase, McEwan explores and foreshadows the outcomes of Cecilia and Robbie’s love. Robbie and Cecilia break the vase the day they discover their love for each other, signifying their love would not be forever. Moreover, it is later revealed that” She [Betty] said the pieces had simply come away in her hand, but that was hardly to be believed” (pg. 279).
Christianity explains salvation as redemption by God’s grace through faith from unrighteousness and sins to Cleanliness, also known as Salvation. The Bible explores salvation in different perspectives including reconciliation, redemption, ransom, forgiveness, and justification. Even though the Bible is a unitary book, the new and the old testaments present salvation in different aspects. However, the different aspects are complementary. In fact, the Old Testament presents many prophesies about salvation that was fulfilled in the New Testament (Kärkkäinen 87).
