Friendship between two good people is impossible. And we also found out from this dialogue that the bad people cannot be friends with anyone. I personally don 't agree with some of those. I believe that two good people can be friends and also two bad people can be friends. If one habit or some things are bad in a person, that doesn 't make the person a totally bad one.
"Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 True friendships are a rarity in today 's culture. In Aristotle 's Nicomachean Ethics, he delves into what a "true" or "complete" friendship should be. The friendship of David and Jonathan in the Old Testament parallels with Aristotle 's ideal and complete and true friendship.
By using his bright personality and his affectionate nature, he accomplishes providing the emotional support and well-intended actions necessary of a quality parent, even if he is often unable to work and stay sober. In life, a single flaw may seem to dictate one’s entire life and personality. In reality, a person is much more than that an individual imperfection, and even the best people can still contain major flaws. By not generalizing the mistakes of others, it is possible to see people how they really are- instead of by their
In life, one of the most precious things human beings have is their relationships with those that they spend a majority of their time with. Most of the time, people are able to understand how much these relationships enrich and improve their lives, and how boring and melancholy their lives would be without them. Although, sometimes people can have the tendency to take these relationships for granted because of their inclination to to be selfish or to hold on to their pride. Therefore, there are many “friendships” that are filled with lies and competition which cause these said relationships to become corrupt. In his short story “Hunters in the Snow”, Tobias Wolff uses the relationships between the characters Kenny, Tub, and Frank in a sequence of events to exemplify that sometimes people’s own pride and selfishness
Someone who previously spoke to the graduates gave them a list of 10 things to do after the graduation was over and what to do in general with their lives. Since King went to Orono and became a best-selling author, his opinion on this subject is very credible and informed. One of the 10 things was to get out of Orono. He knows there aren't many opportunities in the area so he tells them to leave and make something of themselves somewhere else, at least for a little while. Appealing to logos wasn't a huge part of King’s speech, but there were still aspects to support his argument to convince the people to stay in
The Only True Generosity In “On Obligations,” Cicero’s generosity is, in some ways, not generous at all. Expectations of repayment in an equal or greater value actually make seemingly selfless acts entirely selfish, the single exception being when he says to give to those in the most need if all other factors that make a man worthy of it are of comparable value (18). Even familial kindness is an inescapable obligation as it is a never-ending cycle of repayment towards parents and expected repayment from children. When friends enter this context of self-centered benevolence, generosity becomes more complicated. Friends do not have to spend time, one of the most valuable commodities of this world, with a person, or bestow love or expensive favors
Kindness is often overlooked in society yet it still manages to hold a great deal importance in the lives of many. Kindness is an empowering emotion that can change perspectives and alter destinies. In The Glass Roses by Alden Rowan the true importance of kindness is personified throughout the story. In the story Stephen is encapsulated by the kindness of his fellow worker and greatly impacts Stephan’s ability to determine his own destiny. The Glass Roses shows that individuals tend to hide their true emotions in order to gain respect from their peers however kindness, once truly unveiled can play a huge role in determining ones destiny.
As noted above the moral skills consist of kindness, care, and ethics which are perfect examples of moral skills. These are great skills because each of them are qualities of good people. In today’s society, there are a number of people that have lost their way and are simply mean people. They show no signs of kindness, care, or empathy and instead show anger, hate, and pessimism. Of the three skills that I agree with the most are kindness and care.
In fact, many claimed that PSA announcements did work. However, every study I read had recorded the short term effects, and no one seemed to know the long term. I however have observed the long term effect on my family and friends. Short term, the people who view the PSA have an awareness of the costs of distracted driving, and try to prevent it. However, this awareness only lasts as long as they remember to be aware.
Today's society isn't near what it once was. In the last 10 years or so America has shifted into a weaker society that thinks everyone should get a trophy but no one should have to work for it. This is an arguement that is brought up time and time again, many people say everyone deserves a trophy and others say only the winner or the best should get a trophy. If everyone gets a trophy for just showing up then that teaches them that they don't have to work hard to rise to the top to earn the trophy or medal. That is not fair for the kids that do work hard to see trophies handed out to the the kids that have not been working as hard.
