Malcolm X’s “Message to Grassroots” speech is a very invocative speech. I knew that it was made during a time when black people were not treated well and were trying to gain rights they deserved. However, throughout the entire passage I found myself getting increasingly upset at the aggressiveness and hostility towards other black people and notable civil rights activists, and his call for viciousness. The one thing in the reading that I did not approve of at all was the use of the n-word. I do not think that anyone, regardless of the color of their skin, should use it. It was a word specifically designed to be derogatory and put certain people down. It was, and still is, a word used by racists to deem someone else as less. Malcom X calls
