Bipolar is a disorder which causes extreme changes in mood. High periods of mood are called mania which is where someone can be extremely energetic and euphoric and low periods of mood are called depression. Which is where the person may feel sad and hopeless. The extreme change in mood can affect sleep, energy activity, judgement, behaviour, and the ability to think clearly. In the movie All the bright places one of the main characters Theodore Finch has bipolar this causes people to judge him all throughout his school day. He is seen as energetic, hyper and disruptive. He has a hard time controlling what he says and does and acts on impulse. As the other main character, Violet Markey gets closer to him she realises he is not all just happy and energetic. Theodore disappears once every few months without telling anyone. He tends to snap at people and get upset easier. The last time he disappeared he ended up drowning in a lake by trying to see how long he could hold his breath underwater. On multiple occasions Violet calls him selfish and ignorant. Without knowing he has a mental health disorder. People with bipolar are seen as annoying when they are in a manic state and selfish when they are in a depression state because people aren't used to moods changing so fast they mistake it for selfishness and attention seeking. People with bipolar struggle to express their emotions because they are so extreme and …show more content…

He is consumed by his own shadow, staying in the dark instead of being the courageous, passionate, and altruistic little boy he
Throughout the text, he demonstrates uncontrollable fits of anger and aggressiveness. The most blatant perhaps was his brutal attack on the nurse at the closing of the book. Although a strong argument could be made that she deserved it, the attack undoubtedly shows his aggressive tendencies. However even after he tries to literally choke her, the readers (myself included) pitied him. Not the nurse who had been brutally attacked, but rather, her attacker.
His selfish and prideful nature is shown by not taking up for Justine and withholding the truth from the people. Additionally, he believes that Justine’s death was a less harsh punishment than his
