Say no to Sugar Daddy
Introduction
The mortality and morbidity rate is high in Swaziland due to HIV and AIDS epidemic, however, one of the drivers of this epidemic is the intergenerational sex, a sexual intercourse between an older man, popularly known as ‘sugar daddy’ and the Teen, who is still in the primary or secondary school. The objective of this national campaign, ‘Say no to Sugar Daddy,” was to raise awareness among Teens on the consequences of sexual intercourse between an older man and a young girl, which have been the driving force of high HIV incidence and Teen pregnancy among young girls. This campaign was an idea for a single woman, who shared her vision with other women, and the fire ignite. I learn that it does not take a whole community to change the community, but one man with a vision can bring transformation to the community as a whole. The preconceived idea I had was that an individual cannot make a difference unless a group of people comes together and agree, and then maybe transformation could come. This is now in the past now, this campaign has helped me to dispel those notions, now I know that one person with a vision can change the course of history.
