Now as for my favorite movie it would have to be Saving Private Ryan. Not just for the actors but for the history of the story. I am a huge history buff i love WWI and WWII. It showed what part of the war was like the close quarters combat, how you had bonds with all of the members of your platoon and even in most circumstances you would watch your friends die in front of you and the mental effect that would have on your
Argumentative essay on “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe. (Introduction) “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe is a poem that is very dark. The poem is about a man whose wife recently died so now he is lonely. Some people would say that the main character is insane, but at the same time he is really sad about his wife’s passing. I say he is a little insane because at one point in the story he lets a raven in his house and starts to ask it questions.
It all started when his (Poe’s) grandfather died at 57. Within his blood-stained will he pleaded the manor to go to him as he died alone in the home. The autopsy never showed any signs of death but his soul and/or life was sucked out of him but nevertheless he was missed dearly. Poe was 19 with passion to write with no ideas at the time. “Poe...hello?...EDGAR!”

Hey, it’s Edgar. Edgar Allan Poe. Get a snack. Settle in. Because I’m about to tell you the story of my life.
An eagle, flying gracefully through the air with the sun right above him. A raven flying with only darkness around him. Both flying but you can only feel the boldness in the eagles presence. The raven a sign of Satan roams in the skies looking to scavenge on whatever it can find.
In many stories, insanity serves as a deciding factor in the outcome of the story. Though this was common in many of the works during the Romantic period, few authors were able to illustrate insanity like Edgar Allan Poe. Insanity appears to be a recurring theme in many of Poe's works, especially the poem "The Raven" and the short story "The Black Cat." In "The Raven" Poe conveys the power the loss of a loved one can have on someone's sanity.
Edgar Allan Poe was a depressed man. This is shown in the Raven and Poe states, “Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore —” To summarize, this quote is about how the main character in “The Raven” is depressed and alone. Since the main character is depressed, it reflects upon Edgar Allan Poe because he wrote about this with such deep meaning. Also, Edgar Allan Poe states in “The Raven”, “And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, ‘Lenore?’ This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, ‘Lenore!’

The Raven The famous line by shakespeare will last as long as time. “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. ”this line makes one think differently about a rose. If there is one specific genre I don't watch that much, it's the war genre. Normally, it's not my type of movie, but when it comes to one of the best, if not the best war film, it has to be Saving Private Ryan. This movie is about a group of soldiers, led by Captain John Miller on their mission to find and take Private James Ryan from the war after his three brothers are killed in battle. It very accurately shows the impact that war has on soldiers in many ways. This is my first time watching the movie and I am very impressed.
In Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, “The Raven,” there are many symbols. For example, Lenore, “nevermore,” and the raven. Firstly, the character Lenore represents his dead wife Virginia. Furthermore, the quote “Nevermore,” which all the raven says, represents him losing his wife and the repeating losses in his life. Additionally, the raven represents death and sorrow, which is typically the theme in his poems and his life.
The Romantic Period was an artistic, literary movement that started in Europe at the end of the 18th century. The Romantic movement was partly a reaction to the industrial revolution that dominated at that time; it was also a revolt against aristocratic social and political norms of the Age of Enlightenment and reaction against the scientific rationalization of nature. After a grueling revolutionary war, America finally gained its independence from the great British. Nevertheless, Americans have grown dependent on the British throughout the many years of colonization. It was at this dire times that Romanticism reached America.
Edgar Allan Poe is an influential writer who is well known mainly for his dark and mysterious obscure short stories and poems. Throughout this essay I will analysing how poe uses a series of literary terms such as diction and anaphora in order to convey a bleak, eerie mood and tone. Poe uses these terms in order to contribute to his writing in a positive way, creating vivid images and a cheerless mood. In Poe’s poem, “The Raven”, he uses words such as lonely, stillness, ominous and fiery to add to the building up apprehension within the poem. In addition, he also uses repetition to create fluent yet unruffled, tragic feel for the reader.
