In the text “Why Kids Sext” by Hannah Rosin goes into detail why kids sext, what these kids are doing is wrong because it invades privacy, on how social media has a big part, harm that is being done by this, and the proper way to deal with this without making laws to lock kids up for making mistakes. This text was based on a school that had a huge problem with sexting. Photos of girls in this school were being posted on a porn site and on social media. When the parents found out there daughters were on this site they were very disappointed and wanted this shut down as soon as possible. These were smart straight A students that made a simple mistake. Sexting is wrong for many reasons but invading the privacy of girls is not something to be proud …show more content…
They do not know how much pain and sorrow this can bring to a girl's life. To deal with this situation you can't make sexting illegal for underaged kids. A whole bunch of innocent kids would go to jail where they do not belong, just for making a foolish mistake. If they were charged for this they would have child pornograhphy on their record and be a registered sex offender before they even turn eighteen. There are other ways of dealing with this situation then charging these kids with this. Showing these kids how devastating it can be could bring down the amount of sexts people send out. Kids that post pictures of the girls they tricked into sending the picture should be punished but not by the law. There should be fines and community service that comes with this. There should also be a course these kids must take that explains to them how damaging sexting can be. Explaining how someone can take their life because of this. As being an immature kid, they do not think of the consequences that come with it. There should be two warnings that should be given to the children that make this mistake. The third time around, the children have not learned their lesson yet and should be punished by the juvenile law. By spending a couple weeks in jail and put on their record. This could really damage a child's life if they were charged with this as the first offense. At least giving the children two warnings before this happens is fair and the lesson should be
In Steubenville, Ohio, a sixteen-year-old girl was attending a local high school party with her friends. The girl was more intoxicated than others and refused to go home after the party was shut down. She then joined a group of guys who were going to another party and when they get there, the girl was too drunk to remember anything else. Two of the boys that were with her were Trent Mays and Malik Richmond. Both of them were football players at Steubenville High School, which was a big deal in small town Steubenville.
In “How Boys Become men,” Jon Kats shows a list in which boys follow to become men. The list has a set of rules/values which can help during a hitch. In “The Absolute True Diary of a part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie,” Junior the main character has a rough child hood. He was born with 42 teeth, a normal person has only 32 teeth also was born with oversized ears which made him a target. He is an Indian who does not always feel like an Indian.
In “Hey! Parents, Leave those Kids Alone” Hanna Rosin shares her aspects on the protective behavior of parents for their children and its effects on the improvement of their kids. Hanna Rosin explains about the risks and dangers involved in the adventurous playgrounds and making a child aware of it while doing anything independently there.
The article Boys on the Side by Hanna Rosin discusses the “hookup” culture that has largely replaced dating. Young women are behaving like frat boys, and no one is guarding the virtues of honor, chivalry, and everlasting love (Rosin 38). Girl land a book by Caitlin Flanagan discusses sexual culture and how in earlier times, fathers protect their daughter’s innocence and girls understood their roles to also protect themselves. The central argument is that women have effectively been duped by a sexual revolution that persuaded them to trade away the protections of and from young men (Rosin 38).
Should Schools Monitor Students Social Media!?!? Have you ever showed up at school and had a friend or classmate tell you about a rumor directed towards you? I think schools should monitor students social media posts but, only if there seems to be problems occurring and disrupting the class. Cyberbullying can lead to low self esteem and depression, causing worse things. Document E, document B and, document D all agree with limiting/monitoring students online speech.
(Link 670), This had happened because the Teenagers had through one of their negligent functions, that would at the end cause society to question the children or teenager
In this paper I will be discussing how Boys and Girls Clubs are used as a deterrence method to keep “at-risk” children off the streets. These programs are all across the country in inner cities and in rural areas. I will be using the Boys and Girls Club to look at its relationship with Social Disorganization theory. The Boys and Girls Club has been around since 1860, when three women decided to open their doors to underprivileged boys. They “believed that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive alternative” (Boys & Girls Clubs of America).
Today girls are more privileged than back years ago. Several women still expect that they are treated the same as women were back at that time, which causes several women believe that boys are still the dominate sex. Explained by a woman named, Christina Hoff Sommers, as she wrote “The War Against Boys,” who argues that girls have been increasing ahead of boys, which has resulted in boys languishing academically and socially. However argues that this statement is untrue. Beginning to build her credibility, Sommers states a few of the accomplishments of women and also saying that countless women complain about being the less dominant sex.
In our society, Bullying is a growing epidemic that affects many people. In the first essay titled “Human Dignity” by Francis Fukuyama. He holds a B. A. in classics from Cornell University and a Ph. D in political science from Harvard University. Fukuyama puts the idea of Human Dignity to light and the idea of Factor X. Fukuyama states that Factor X is “ What the demand for equality of recognition implies is that when we strip all of a person’s contingent and accidental characteristics away, there remains some essential human quality underneath that is worthy of a certain minimal level of respect” (144). Meaning that there are many factors in what makes a human a human rather than just one factor.
In “Girl Unprotected”, Sports writer and journalist Laura Robinson argues that if you examine the Judicial system, then you will find a strong bias against victims of hockey abuses with an emphasis against women. Throughout her essay, Robinson uses the case against Mike Danton and the NHL to emphasize the issues of gender inequality and the lack of recognition to the abuses in hockey. In her essay, Laura Robinson begins her argument by claiming that “women’s bodies were only allowed to be adjectives to describe men” (Robinson 326). By doing so, she suggests that women’s bodies are all that the men in hockey care about while their mind’s and talents are ignored and lack in value. To reinforce her thesis, Robinson also includes a quote from a
In his article he explains that as a result of posting this video he says the two girls had gotten a lot of backlash and were forced to dropout of their high school. As you can see, what the posted had greatly impacted their lives in a negative way. However, if parents were monitoring their children’s online activity they can be sure that they aren’t posting anything that can ruin their future and can potentially prevent children from making mistakes or decisions that they can’t take
Mind Your Own Beeswax Re: “Facing Consequences at Eden Prairie High” written by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Star Tribune Teens will be teens and obviously drinking and smoking will most likely be included. Almost all parents are aware what the teens do now in days. Although there are those kids that lie to their parents. Usually those kids post pictures of themselves drinking or smoking and that is when problems start.
University of Utah did a research showing that 40% of teens admitted to sexting and 25% forwarded to fellow teens and were
In the article, Do Girls Get Better Grades Than Boys in Your School? written by , It states “By kindergarten, girls are substantially more attentive, better behaved, more sensitive, more persistent, more flexible and more independent than boys, according to a new paper from Third Way, a Washington research group.” In the quote they the author is conveying the reader that girls have always been more attentive and flexible at school than most boys. Girls have been always more persistante in school then most boys, and achieve higher grades throughout their high school education. Girls achieve higher grades in school as a result of them being more well behaved, having longer attention spans than boys and being persistent in school.
Many critics agree on one fact about Canadian author Alice Munro: one of her most notable qualities in regards to her work is the distinct use of realism in her writing. Her writing provides a strong sense of familiarity to the reader, while also containing stronger metaphorical meanings that one can note when they begin to closely look at her work. Her short story “Boys and Girls” portrays the socialization of a young girl, once very close to her father and unaware of any sort of gender bias within her society, into a young woman with a pessimistic view of femininity and her expected position in society. This story shows the socialization process in a way that makes it easy to recognize, illustrating circumstances that the reader can notice the blatant sexism and misogyny; however, its portrayal is extremely realistic, allowing the reader to recall how oblivious they may have been in the past during times that they have been impacted by social biases in our world. Critics of Munro typically agree on her overall theme of femininity and coming of age in her writings; “Boys and Girls” emphasizes the ways in which young girls are socialized into a seemingly natural understanding of the sexist expectations and gender roles.
