In 1940 a song called “This Land Is Your Land” became popular. It was popular all over the USA, It was about how the land belongs to everyone and no one can tell you it's not. That song was sung and written by Woody Guthrie, His goal was to make people happy with his music, and he did. He sang to the poor people because he used to live in the lower class area. Woody believed that everyone is equal and that people shouldn’t be judged based on looks, where they live, how the live, and for who they are. You can’t tell someone that they can’t be somewhere they want to go, the land is for all of us. Woody Guthrie also had famous quotes, one of his famous quotes was “ Any fool can make something complicated, it takes a genius to make it simple.” Most of his quotes were inspiring but some were saying don’t be stupid. That's what i like about his quotes he knows what he’s talking about. His most inspiring quote was “ I hate songs that make you think you are not any good. I hate songs that makes you think that you are just born to lose. No good to nobody. No good for nothing. Because you are too old or too young or too fat or too slim . Too ugly or too this or too that. Songs that run you down or poke fun at you on account of your bad luck or hard traveling. I’m out to fight those songs to my very last breath of air and my last breath of air and my last drop of blood.” Woody’s quote is saying that he doesn’t like the songs that bring you …show more content…
Also another reason why theyŕe different is because the song is more planned out but the quote he just said he didn't plan it out or anything.
In conclusion, Woody Guthrie’s quote and song is the same because they’re both well known, and they’re different because the song was planned out but the quote he just said off the top of his
Chapter 6 of the Echohawk article is called “Toward an American Land Ethic”. In the beginning of the article the author mentions that the Declaration not only serves to protect and preserve the indigenous habitat but also the related land and use of rights of the indigenous peoples and their cultural survival. Chapter 6 examines all the ways that the human family has originally/traditionally looked at the land. This chapter explores the forces that stymie a land ethic in our own country the United States and explains the congruency between protecting the rights of indigenous people and developing a land ethic for a American setting. What is a land ethic?
The tempo is faster than Louis Armstrong’s version and has more of a bluegrass tone to it. While Louis Armstrong’s version was slower and had a jazzier tone. The notes were drawn out more and so was the singing. The beat and tempo for each song helped add to the overall tone and style. Even though both versions
This is where his passion to help began. He then wrote “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. This song touched many hearts around the world. It mainly struck the hearts of African Americans. This song was a voice for many African Americans who have went through a lot over the years.
During westward expansion, land has played a key role in the existence of humans. It has been the individual thirst for power and expansion that causes humans to feel the need to gain land. Even in medieval times, one could not be considered nobel unless one had acquired land. In addition to seeing land as a powerful entity and a symbol of strength, it is also seen as necessary for the preservation of human existence. Infact, Andrew jackson in his address to congress on the Indian Removal Act, John.
These are similarities because they both tell how the song hypnotizes people. Another difference is the excerpt has a lot of imagery to describe the settings, the way something feels or the descriptions of something that is happening. The poem doesn’t have any imagery in it rather it has forms of manipulation, sarcasm, and Irony. These affect the rhythm of the story and the theme of both passages.
Johnny Cash had a lasting impact on all different age groups which was a unique quality with postmodernism music artists and he also encouraged people to do kind deeds. Johnny's life started off worse than most so he wanted to turn it around so he was a point of interest
There are some similarities and differences between Woody Guthrie's inspirational quote and the song. The first similarity is the quote and the song have the same meaning. The second similarity is is the song and the quote have sayings in it that supports poor
The more land you owned, the more equality and rights you
Woody Guthrie was a really famous singer and songwriter. Woody Guthrie wrote over a hundred songs including. “This Land Is Your Land’’ He was always talking about around the U.S.A in his songs. He wrote songs to build people up unlike other singers who made people feel bad about themselves.
(Vigilante Man, Guthrie) When we see a man carrying a sawed-off shot-gun around without a badge and uniform, we infer the worst. However the Vigilante Man is a good man but the people do not know that based off his appearance. This shows the listeners of the song that you should never judge someone based off their appearance because
Songs are unique because not only are they poems, but they are musical, so they express much more emotion. Scotty McCreery’s song, “Five More Minutes,” is a great example of how metaphorical and sentimental a simple song can be. The song covers mundane events in the singer’s life, as well as impactful events, and relates them back to the same message; time goes by quickly, so cherish everything you have at the moment. Scotty McCreery recounts personal events, uses unique dialect, repeats key phrases, and uses metaphors to wonderfully convey the tone and message of his song. Most importantly, the artist connects with the audience on a personal level, which is unique and allows him to write in a simplistic manner.
“The good ole days weren't as always good, and tomorrow ain’t as bad as it seems.” Billy Joel went from an average class worker to a well know piano player. He impacted pop music by focusing on his piano, won multiple Grammys and awards, was inducted into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, making him one of the most influenced pop artists in the 20th century. Billy Joel started music since he was a little little boy.
The songs I chose are all very popular country songs by well-known country artists. The first song is “Where the Green Grass Grows” by Tim McGraw. This song is about the artist experiences living a rural lifestyle and described the country as a place where the green grass grows. The song notes on farming life in particular by referencing corn growing. The song brings themes of nature and purity through the explanation of the land that identifies as country.
The phrase was first used by John L. O’Sullivan. With the new territory, the United States became larger and wealthier. This affected the lives of working class such as the middle and lower-class farmers by the large amount of territory that came to be. While in the process of this it also alienates the Hispanics and Native American residents of the far west. They also wanted to bring slavery into the new territories and make those sates become slave states as well, yet the northerners did not want to extend slavery.
They say that the wise musician is those how can master what they practice. Well I thought that this person was only a singer and that he only made music great songs that people in his era will only understand not only that, but I also thought that his music was for older generation of adults that younger generations would not understand because of the socials problem that where happing through this time this includes the Civil Rights Movements, Vietnam war, Cold War, Racism and, songs about how corrupt the justice system is in the U.S. One might think that time have changed but in reality nothing has been a huge change from today's world the U.S is about to break into world war III, police are still killing blacks and minorities. The only change is that the world has really seen in our country though, pop culture the LGBT community is really more open than they were in the past our society is moving into the world where the “minority” groups are becoming the popular group, and it has to do with advocates like Bob Dylan that have a bigger voice. He was able to influence and change the mindset of ignorant people in America. That is why,
