Since there was debt because of the war, the economy was already very bad in Britain – therefore they taxed the colonies. When the colonies started boycotting British products and threatened to stop trading with them all together, it was successful because Britain’s economy wasn’t strong enough to handle those things. The merchants in Britain couldn’t afford to have trade with America end. If the British merchants were hurt, this would thus hurt The economy as a whole in Britain. In later decades, in the War of 1812, America would try to stop trade with Britain again using a method called embargo, which would not be effective because they did not have the debt that the War had caused.
The Founding Father’s Rebellion In 1775, the Thirteen Colonies were new, and the colonists were proud to be British. But as soon as the French and Indian Wars broke out, King George III lost a majority of necessary supplies for the colonists. Unfortunately, King George III was drastically in dept. To pay off his dilemma he taxed the British colonists without representation. The founding fathers, then took necessary actions to gain freedom from this bond with Great Britain.
Upon the eve of the Revolution, the colonists had spent several years growing tiresome of British rule and preparing themselves to revolt. They had become united under the goal of attaining freedom and had developed their own personality, which was different from any found in Europe. Additionally, Britain treated the colonies with disrespect, thus increasing their desire to separate themselves. In the years leading up to the American Revolution, the colonists united through their desire for freedom and developed into their own people seeking freedom from an oppressive British rule. The main reason the colonists wanted to rebel was because Britain was treating them poorly and abusing them.
The Patriots sparked the American Revolution, which was uncalled for according the British, and by initiating this revolution, they cut all ties with the British along with all of the benefits they received. The Patriots also blamed their rebelling on British “tyranny” but according to the actual effects and intentions of the Sugar and Stamp Acts, the British were not tyrants. Finally, the Patriots unjustly and repeatedly broke laws and acted violently. This proves the Patriots were unjust to spark the revolution thus making the American Revolution
Lastly, colonists had no representation in Parliament. Laws and taxes were passed without them having a say. Americans decided to fight for their independence in 1776 because they were being treated unjustly by Great Britain. To begin, the British passed hefty taxes in the thirteen colonies to help pay off their war debt. First, colonists were brought into British conflicts.
In Thomas Paine’s pamphlet he uses a great emotional appeal to convince the colonists that fighting back is the right is the right thing to do. Patrick Henry’s speech has many instances where he uses rhetorical questions to point out the wrongs of the British king and prove that war is the only point. Common Sense and “ Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” no doubtedly helped shape the American
Thomas Paine was speaking inspiration when he said, “...if being bound in that manner, is not slavery then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth.”(153) He was speaking for the soldiers as he explained that Britain has been enslaving the colonies in so countless ways. I know that in 1773 the Boston Tea Party took place, because I was there. The Boston Tea Party is also proved, “1773- Boston Tea Party.” (Roden 141) The colonists tried and we protested against the taxes, but gruesome Britain still gave them to us and we went through it, but we stopped putting up with it and now we fight. The inspiring Thomas Paine also explained in his writ that Britain is now taxing the colonie and controlling us. (153) It is horrible.
The Boston Tea Party was a symbolic event of the Revolution, but one can speculate with a good degree of certainty that it would not have occurred if not for the series of historic events in Boston and other colonies that preceded it.The Boston tea party was a result of The Stamp Act, The Currency Act, and The Tea Act. Since Great Passed these three laws it angered many of the colonist and resulted in The Boston Tea Party. The Currency Act was the first of many new laws that Great Britain had created that the many of the colonist angry. The Currency Act was a law the prohibited American colonist from using there own American money to buy goods from England. England didn't Like that Americans were using there own money to buy goods the
The Founding Fathers rebelled against the British government for good reasons, which led to the American Revolution in 1783. The Founding Fathers were justified in rebelling against the Britain because the government was not protecting the rights of the citizens, taxing the colonists, and forced them to house British soldiers. In 1756 Britain put the first tax on the colonists. This was the Stamp Act, it required colonists to pay taxes on certain items such as newspapers, legal documents, licenses, and even playing cards. This angered the colonists and they began to boycott purchasing taxed items.
The outcome of this war affected America’s foreign policies, economy, and society as a whole. The first important effect the war of 1812 had was the way it changed foreign policy for America. One of the major problems before the war, was the way Britain forced neutral nations trade to go through British authorities first. Not only that but they’d take American seamen and force them into the British navy. This whole ordeal caused great upset in America and cause them to put up a bill that stated they would cut off trade with either Britain or France if the other dropped their trade restrictions.
