Cyntoia Brown was a girl who just had a bad run of luck through her life, her mother having habits of substance abuse while pregnant with her and then leaving Cyntoia with a foster family. Cyntoia left that family fairly early in life, soon falling into a life of drugs, prostitution, and physical abuse, drifting from home to home as she was raped and assaulted by those around her. She eventually began prostituting under a man known under the alias “Kut-Throat” who abused Cyntoia both physically and sexually, such as brandishing firearms towards her and demanding her to strip. One night, as Cyntoia was 16 years old, she was “working” for her pimp, and was picked up by 43 year old Johnny Allan for sex. Following a brief tour of Allan’s home and a brief conversation regarding some of the items Allan owned, the two were in his bedroom when Cyntoia claims Allan went for an item under his bed, at which point she says she felt threatened, retrieved a gun from her purse, and shot Johnny before he could hurt her. Black Dahlia Murder In 1947 the tragic loss of Elizabeth Short shocked many people all over the world. This wasn’t your typical murder, this murder had to have been planned out and thought about for a while before its happening. The “Black Dahlia Murder” is the biggest unsolved case in Los Angeles and is still an undergoing investigation. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you are here because one person in this courtroom decided to take law into her own hands. The defendant, Mrs. Dominique Stephens, murdered the man that she vowed to love. This sole act by the defendant is violation of all morals and her husband’s right to live. Afterwards, she even felt guilty about this violation of justice and called the cops on herself, and she later signed a written statement stating that she is guilty of the murder of Mr. Donovan Stephens. Then the defendant later recanted this statement and said that she only killed Mr. Stephens in self defense.

Relationships, lies, murder, conviction. These are all aspects that come into play when talking about the January 13th, 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed, Hae’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend was convicted of her murder in 2000. The problem with this is that the only evidence the state had to convict Adnan was the stories told by others, specifically someone named Jay who was with Adnan for some of the day Hae went missing and had possession of Adnan’s car and cell phone. He claims Adnan made him come pick him up after the murder was committed and assist him in burying Hae’s body.
